Just a fun thing but any prize(s) gratefully received

The 2018 World Cup draw is as follows

· Group A: Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay
· Group B: Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran
· Group C: France, Australia, Peru, Denmark
· Group D: Argentina, Iceland, Croatia, Nigeria
· Group E: Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Serbia
· Group F: Germany, Sweden, Mexico, South Korea
· Group G: Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England
· Group H: Poland, Senegal, Colombia, Japan

Players select 6 teams from the list above. Points will be awarded based on a combination of each team’s weighting and how far they progress in the tournament. Points for progress are allocated as follows:

Bottom of group 0 pts

Teams finishing 3rd in their group but not making the last sixteen 5 pts

Eliminated from last sixteen 15 pts

Eliminated from last eight 30 pts

Losing semi finalist 50 pts

Losing finalist 70 pts

Tournament Winner 100 pts

Say you pick England. If they were to lose in the quarter finals you will be awarded 30 x 12 = 360 points.

Say you pick France. And say they are a losing semi-finalist, you will be awarded 5 x 50 = 250 points.

And if you pick Uruguay and they finish third in their group but do not qualify, you will be rewarded with 5 x 20 = 100 points.

In the event the forum is down on the closing day, selections may be left on our Facebook page, can I recommend you bookmark it just in case.

Entries close at kick off time of the opening match of the tournament which is 4pm (GMT) Thurs June 14[SUP]th[/SUP], 2018. whereupon this thread will be moved to the 2018 World Cup part of the forum.
