Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Just heard on Sky sports racing

Gutted, been a wretched season for Henderson

I'll never forget that Supreme win, still don't know how he won it after nearly being bought down

So sad. Lovely horse, they all are.

That epic race with Energumene at Ascot. That anticipation for a race between the best two 2-milers BEFORE Cheltenham. Incredible scenes.

As others have said, awful news to round off a wretched season for Hendo.

I was SO hoping they'd just retire him as he was running 10lbs below his best for some time but I suppose being cast in one's box could happen to any horse whether in or or out of training.

One of the truly bright lights of recent seasons.

Awful news with both. Elixir in the season when he finally got his act together, and Shishkin still capable at G1 level before being retired over the next season or so. Very much a fans favourite.

SduB is really sad. He never looked happy at any point in the race and I couldn’t understand why he didn’t pull him up. Gutted to see the news that he was gone. He didn’t deserve that.

That is possibly the most tragic scene I have seen on a racecourse. One minute I was shouting “he’s a proper Derby horse!” and now I’m in tears. Devastated.
