And you know when they overdo the gushing, the horse figured will then get beaten. It’s always happened. Denman v Kauto Star?

None of this should detract from the fact that it was a very good Eclipse.

Yesterday at Sandown was the best card so far outside of royal Ascot, supported by interesting handicaps at Haydock and the French classics.

There are few things more dreary in horse racing than tall poppy syndrome.

In the 2019 KG Enable came from way back after another nasty spoiling ride given to Hunting Horn and in the final furlong Dettori gave her one tap and she was always holding Crystal Ocean.

I recorded the whole programme of both 2019 & 2020 Eclipse and to my eye she looked a good deal tighter last year when she sat second than this . She was asked a very big question yet still got to within a length of Ghaiyyath before tiring close home . It was an excellent effort .

As for the 2019 Arc look at what happened to Magical the only other horse who tried to lay up close in the Arc- despite being good enough to win a Champion Stakes either side’s if the race she dropped out like a stone . I have no doubt at all that had Dettori ridden Enable with more restraint Waldgeist who she had already beaten three times would never have got to her.

There is something rather sad about people who try and diminish great achievements .

I did say she was as good as Japan and Crystal Ocean.

She's clearly a good few pounds better than Japan. He had a better track position on Sunday and was well beaten by her in the Arc.

Speaking of that race, Port Guillaume was very eye catching in the JC.

It's encouraging that this is the prevailing wisdom.

Looked like he was going to win easily when moving to the front. Slightly disappointing he couldn't finish the job.

Three winners today including a very nice filly in Etneya at the Curragh. Backed her on the strength of her pedigree and the fact she had an Irish Oaks entry. She won well and might be worth following.

Nazeef was tough as nails too in the Falmouth.

I am happy to put a line through her following all weather defeat. I feel she will prove her Doncaster win was no fluke.
The Abernant form looking bombproof with Oxted winning on Saturday.

It's good to see Breathtaking Look entered in a group three at York on Sunday over 6F. The race will be on ITV4.

    Prices please...

I have managed to have an early look at this weekends cards at York and Newbury. There's a few horses that are strongly winking at me. I am looking forward to it.

    8/1 at 365.

I've put her in an ew double with Moonlight Spirit who should be fav for the Silver Cup at York. That horse was having his first run of the season in the Gold Cup - something very few horses in the history of the game have likely been asked to do. His form last year is the pick of the field.

Looks like Kameko is going for the Sussex.

Good luck with that one PB, in the same race I've backed Leo De Fury ew @ 14/1 - probably one not to worry yours.

    .
Filly runs this afternoon in the Desmond Stakes. Weld not one to tilt at windmills but it’s an interesting contest. Two consistent older horses in Ancient Spirit and Bowerman taking on the filly with Fiscal Rules (also in my tracker) coming back down in trip after finishing 5th in the Irish Derby (and an excellent 5th in the Irish Guineas) as well as Royal Dornoch who looked good last year when winning the Royal Lodge beating none other than Kameko.
