Tescos have a wine sale on at the moment with up to 50% off. And it gets delivered right to your door.

Yes TRYPTICH I was at a big TESCO store yesterday (I quoted it on the meat thread) and they were putting the show/offer up then it was mainly Aussie wines I think ........

There is a real problem with TEsco wine site . They often don't quote vintages and sometimes if you order one vintage you get another - say 2002 ( balanced and excellent ) and you get 2003 ( so hot a vintage it tastes like burned tyres ) I might be a little annoyed.

Dark bottle, plasticky-wire cage, white & maroon label... <_<

I'm no connoisseur, so my opinion would probably be irrelevant, but I am enjoying it (I bought six bottles).

It isn't as powerful or oaky as Rioja and is definitely better at room temp than cool (from the garage).

The guy behind me in the queue asked me if I'd tried it (he had a box of six as well) and I said yes. I'd bought it at Christmas (went down well on the day but invitees aren't connoisseurs either) and had only seen it once since. He said he'd seen it at £8.99 somewhere and had tried it the previous week just to see if it was OK. He said he was delighted with it, hence his return visit.

I can just imagine Jilly Goolden: "Hmm, I'm getting....burned tyres..."

Lord H - in your world of first growth claret only I doubt you ever come across such wines . :P

Badly made Australian wines from very hot areas often taste and smell burnt .
