Former Champion Hurdle winner Rooster Booster is set to make his seasonal reappearance at Huntingdon on October 15.

Philip Hobbs' 11-year-old is poised to take his chance in the Huntingdon Racecourse Conferences Hurdle over two miles.

"With Kempton having no jump racing this year, the race he won three years ago has been transferred to Huntingdon on the 15th of October so the plan is to run him there," Hobbs told At The Races.

"I suppose you'd say a more galloping track like Cheltenham would suit him better but having said that, he won the race at Kempton and Huntingdon is a similar track.

"Hopefully he'll run well; the old boy seems in good form anyway."

The Riverwise gelding has been a credit to connections in a distinguished career that has seen him record nine racecourse victories, including an 11-length defeat of Westender in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2003.

Hobbs' charge was last seen in action finishing fourth behind Coat Of Honour in the two-mile Stanleybet Handicap Hurdle at Haydock in May.

Bless the old boy - probably still England's best hurdler last year - however I have to admit that his chances of regaining the Ch are rather slim !

It will be interesting to see how the Booster fares this year . When he finally got a good gallop he bolted up at Sandownand at the weights in the mud that was a good effort in the Swinton.

I like Brave Inca if Ap remains aboard but am sticking with HE for the moment

:brows: Bolted in? Against what? He looked like he had a serious race on his hands until Self Defense fell. Rooster Booster will be lucky to win a race this year let alone get a place in any of the quality Grade 1 races.

Sorry got that the wrong way round. As for finishing miles behind the Booster at Haydock....horse should never have run again that season after the fall he got. Indeed Ardross he was PU!!

If they ban all the Irish horses and all the ones trained in Wylie colours.

Rb might still have a chance in the Champ Hurdle, provided his form is the same as last year.

I doubt he will run in it this year unless he shows very good form in the run up to it.

That might guarentee a place behind something with 'Intersky' in the name...

I can't see him running in it either. His form last season never quite matched his glory day or the TGT nor did he really build on a highly promising run at the Open meeting.

To be honest, he doesn't owe me anything. He's still responsible for my biggest ever return on one race.

Not as good as people think he would have been, had he not said "Stuff this...I'm knackered...I'm off to horsey heaven" in Hors La Loi's Champion Hurdle.
