What a fantastic shop - organic brown trout !
Does this mean you've only just discovered the shop or the trout?

We have only got Waitrose up north very recently
I am a total addict - in fact I moved back up from the West Country since they are Waitroseless down there.
It may be a touch more expensive but the quality is exceptional on most things. And their organic range is very extensive. Would imagine you will be impressed by their wine section as well.
And if you hit the shops usually around 6ish on a Monday or Tuesday, they have massive reductions on things ("red spots") - have bought side of Wild Salmon for £4 the other week! The b/f spends his life coming home with amazing bargains, which we would never eat otherwise, being a pennyless trainer rather than an affluent lawyer! :P

Erm... I don't think so

The wine selection is a cut above the rest of the supermarkets . Just scoffed some prawns for lunch which were M & S quality but a good deal cheaper even if more expensive than Tesco they tasted a good deal better .
Do you mean to say that we have allowed Waitrose to go north?
You still living in Sheffield then James?Originally posted by Ardross@Oct 17 2004, 11:24 AM

The Safeways at the bottom of Ecclesall Road has just become a Waitrose

When Morrisons took over Safeway, they had to get rid of the stores that were too close to existing Morrison outlets because of the monopoly aspect.
Our Safeway store was one of 16 that Waitrose has acquired and we are all waiting with negative feelings having been told that Waitrose are up market and akin to Sainsburys.
Being one who is according to AC's posted stats, classed as living in poverty, can anyone answer a few questions to maybe put our minds at rest.
1) Are they dearer than Netto ?
2) Are their bags free at checkout ?
3) Do they do 'buy one get one free' offers ?
4) Are their chicken breast fillets more than £ 2.99 for 500gr ?
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Dunno. I only buy organic.
Ardross, welcome to shoppers' heaven ..
(for the avoidance of doubt, this posting was made by Muttley )
May the horse be with you.
As Waitrose is the only place in Wantage to sell Seabrook Crisps they get the thumbs up from me.
Waitrose doesn't appear to exist in brum.
Who can blame them ?
There were rumours a while back that Waitrose were going to take over Superquinn over here. Gaining Waitrose would be far outweighed by losing Superquinn IMO.
I become fairly moist at the thought of The Asda's, but I must confess to some faint stirrings over the thought of Lidl's half price 10" cucumbers of late. :shy:
Oooohh, Matron!
Can't think of a Waitrose nearer to us in the SW than either Bath or Dorchester - it was one of the biggest sacrifices that had to be made when moving down here all those years ago...
Maybe they'll cop on soon and see the gap in the market - Taunton would be a perfect opportunity for them..
Just Singin' the Blues ........
Off the top of my head Saltash in Cornwall, Okehampton and Sidmouth in Devon

As I thought - Bath and/or Dorchester both nearer than the above!
Just Singin' the Blues ........
Taunton's Safeway has just been replaced by Morrison's & it was dreadful when I went in last week. Rude staff, untidy isles and shelves and just very tacky overall.
