    Sandown Coral Eclipse

    11 left in:

    Alenquer
    Bay Bridge
    Dubai Honour
    High Definition
    Lord North
    Mishriff
    Real World
    Aikhal
    Native Trail
    Stone Age
    Vadeni

I believe this is known a horse race. Bay Bridge will get another go from me at 9/2.

I said I wouldn't be putting up any star bets until the jump season started but this one I can't resist:;_

    Vadeni 5/2 5star***** bet.

Just point him in the rght direction and race over

I like Bay Bridge as well Slim. I was a tad disappointed with his finishing effort at Ascot but maybe he wasn't letting himself down on the ground as much as he would with a bit of cut. I'm not a ground punter normally but it's very fine margins at the top level - especially when Moore's ride was nowhere near as optimal as the one State of Rest was given. I would be against the 3yos at the head of the market on price grounds and although I like Alenquer this isn't an extended 10f which he might need against the best.

The best bet of the day might be Mitbaahy in the Charge though.

I owe you this one....wish I had a shop full of punters like you I'd lay them all at 9/2 until the cows come home and back him at 6/1 with 3 of the majors now offering that price

Will have a look at that. How do you think Real World will go? He's a fascinating runner to see how the Baaeed is shaping up.

I think 6/1 is a mistake but when a race is this good who cares.

He's a danger for sure - I'd prefer him if he was with Appleby honestly but that could be harsh. I'm seeing 10/1, that is too big.

Actually I no longer bet with ladbrokes or Corals.....offering 6/1
The last attempted bet I had with the latter was a horse ridden by my late friend
They knocked back 2k and cut it from 6/1 to 6/4 without taking a coin.

That was in 1984 and by what I hear they are even worse nowadays so their 6/1 probably only exists for a tenner if your lucky

Life keeps getting that little bit better.

Uknown to you Ya bunch of scruff I put up a horse on "What are you backing today"
the idea being to cover my 5star bet on Vadeni.

Now only did it win but I got 12/1 on the machine and it covered my Vadni bet twofold.

So I am going in again as it is a bet to nothing.....Vedeni will now be a 10star********** bet

You don't need to be mad to be a punter but it helps

Vadeni supplemented also from what I can see.
Tough race for a 3yo but... he looks the part.

I wouldn't wish alosing bet on my worst enemy but when Frankie had the blindfold problem I thought all Ryan Moore had to do was steer.

As it turned out I had my 20 quid on him he never at any point got near enough to State of Rest at any point to make me think he was going to win.

He did win a Group 3 but Mostahdaf who he beat has lost since.

State Of Rest wasn't fancied but the Cox Plare winner was obviously underrated.

That said I have to question if the overall form is good enough and Bay Bridge may well be a boy trying to fit into a man's trousers.

Vadeni has come up through the ranks slowly. He flopped in his first crack in Group company at 2/5 and was easily beaten by El Bodegon

He had a run in a good race over a mile this season badly needing the run then te fireworks started.

He won a group 3 very easily before being stepped up to Group 1 and absolutely trounced El Bodegon who had beaten him a year earlier.

The transformation has been nothing short of amazing and I'd advice anyone who hasn't seen the Prix du Jockey Club to go look before having a bet.

Horse blew me away that day and I marked it down as the best performance of any horse this season.

But I am biased because I backed him

I somehow cut him off when cutting and pasting.

    Bay Bridge.

Real World is interesting. Liked the way he finished behind Baaeed at Ascot. Had a bit of racing already this year mind. Others come in fresher.
All comers, all grounds, all beaten!

This perfect mix of poetry and destruction.

The more I look at the race the more I think Bay Bridge goes off favourite. They have plucked 5/2 the Aga Khan horse out of their hole. His form amounts to nothing.

Bay Bridge was done by an inferior horse off a steady pace at Ascot - where's the guarantee of a better pace at Sandown. Answers welcome?

Bigger field, High Definition is still in it.

If you look at the history of the Eclipse it's a hard race for a 3yo to win against high class older horses on decent ground. Especially 3yos unproven over the trip.

St Marks - soft ground, Mishriff hated it
Roaring Lion - Poor field, main oppo was another 3yo (Saxon Warrior)
    Hawkbill - deep ground
Golden Horn - Had form over further, proven strong stayer at the trip. Took a while to ground TGG down
Sea the Stars - Better version of Golden Horn
Oratorio - See Roaring Lion, main oppo Motivator.
    Hawk Wing - freak ground
Giant's Causeway - This is the renewal that is most similar to this year. A beaten Guineas horse unproven at the trip against high class older horses (Fantastic Light and Kalanisi). I believe Bay Bridge is as good as Kalanisi, but doubt either the Aga horse or Native Trail are another Iron Horse.

Deeper race. They had one horse to beat at Ascot and they got him beat. No hiding place on Saturday.
