    Bunbury cup

Bit early I know but the entries are out.

FIND was a good 2nd to Noble truth in the Jersey and is certain to go up but gets in here off 93.
I dont really like form in listed to hcaps but if it doesnt run in the meantime it could be thrown in.
    12/1.

BOARDMAN 25/1 is another I will be interested in.
Last in the race last year but as been running well this year.
My one concern is he might be better on a turning track.

Just went on Oddschecker and FIND is 40/1 with betfair so I couldnt resist at that price and boosted to 45/1.

I don't think Find will get in anyway OS. Most likely he'd be balloted out.

The ones that interests me are Dark Shift 33/1 (PP/SB), Star Of Orion 50/1 (SB/BF), and Rhoscolyn 66/1 (PP/SB).

Dark Shift and/or Rhoscolyn may end up elsewhere given they're entered up in Ireland the week after, but at the prices I've taken the chance, and on balance they're more likely to turn up here if they're fully over Ascot.

Interesting that we both agree with Star of Orion, who I though was very unlucky in the Buckingham Palace.

This Star of Orion is one I pinched off Euro.but this could be another run before the international.

They were unlucky in running at Ascot, so I think they'll take there chance personally OS. Nothing worse than holding one back and then getting no run for a target race twice over.

“ It is fair to say those punters who supported STAR OF ORION in the Buckingham Palace Stakes which rounded off Thursday’s action didn’t get much of a run for their money.
Ralph Beckett’s four year old was something of a market mover beforehand and was drawn in the middle of the track in stall 16. Racing off a mark of 98, the Footstepsinthesand gelding had run well from a miserable draw in the Victoria Cup on his reappearance and appeared to have plenty going for him. Having travelled strongly under Rob Hornby, he held every chance until meeting trouble in running and was repeatedly denied a clear passage inside the final quarter of a mile. With his chance gone, his rider didn’t subject him to a hard race and that kindness will hopefully be rewarded later this year.
Five and a half lengths in arrears of bargain buy Inver Park, he holds an entry in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket (9th July) next month. A ready winner over that same course and distance in July last year, he is only four pounds higher and that looks a likely target. Alternatively, he could return to Ascot for the £150,000 Moet & Chandon International Handicap on King George day (23rd July) and bid to go one better than last year when denied by a short head behind Danyah.” Mark Howard SL.

Rhoscolyn 104 (+1), and Star Of Orion 96 (-2) post Ascot marks.

I'm very happy with that. Rhoscolyn could have gone up more in my opinion, He was clear of those in the centre group, where none of the others finished better than midfield, and he had to come from a terrible position. Worth a watch back if you haven't already.

The two pounds off Star of Orion is a very pleasant surprise. Vafortino was left alone on 102 and finished just ahead of him, but SoO had a much worse passage.

Rhoscolyn now best price 25/1 and as short as 16/1 from 66/1 yesterday, and Star of Orion best price 25/1 but mostly 20/1 from 50/1 yesterday.

Yes, makes it more likely that Star of Orion goes to Ascot instead you'd think. I can cash out for a profit and may do that now.

Yes, I noticed yesterday or on Friday that it had shortened up a lot. That's a smashing price you got Outsider. I think Maruco is on too.

Needless to say I'm not on it

    ( @ myself, I should add.)

I've just realised I might have a problem with the July Meeting.

I get an eye injection on Monday 4th and will be unable to read for about a week. I'll probably need to get as much studying done of the 5-days decs as I can and then play things by ear, so to speak.

The thought/idea is much worse than the actual injection. The eye is all numbed up so you don't feel anything but, as I say, it's usually the best part of a week before I can see out of that eye again. (The vision in my other eye isn't good enough for reading.)

The upside is that I usually get walked back to the waiting area by nurse Kim who is a big stotter.

But I'd forgotten that the July Meeting now is at the end of the week so studying at the 5-day stage is out. I'll need to hope I can see by Thursday pm or Friday.
