Slim's favourite horse might drift to a backable price today.

Think Balding's horse is the one doing that.

Marquand looks a serious booking for the course specialist and he should be able to make just about all from the rails draw. I’ve taken the price and will go in again if it holds but I expect it to halve by Friday.
I see on Twitter that's it's fresh ground on the rail today and the cutaway will be gone tonorrow. Could be a huge advantage in the first race.

Interesting withdrawal has caused Revich to shorten up (still 5s with Bet365 so I might go in again before they wisen up).

Brentford Hope was 4/1f but drawn 9. The new front three in the betting are drawn 1,2 and 3 respectively...

Revich I've had my eye on since last season.

Well argued case you make for him, DO.

If there's any justice in this game, you'd think being a course winner he has a great chance.

Re-the Cup... all Not So Sleepys best form on soft or heavy ground.

Is the ground firming up at Chester?

Gd-st or better and I'll be going against Not So Sleepy.

365 haven't removed the NR yet.

NSS appeared not to stay in the Cesarewitch. This track might suit him better, admittedly.

With Almighwar out, I'm struggling for enthusiasm for it.

Simon Rowlands subsequently put up DF on his ATR blog and last night he put up Ontario as well, which, as usual, caused it to go blue pretty much across the board but this morning it's back out to 11/4 generally and pink so there has to be a chance 'the lads' aren't getting involved.

I'm more than happy to let the bet ride but confidence is slightly dented for now.

If Yibir ends up winning it would be a result I could handle since I took it ante-post for the Derby before the Sandown trial but today my preference would be for Ontario to short-head him, miles clear of everything else
    Pisspoor all round.

Ontario anchored early and went out like a light. Yibir folded like a cheap suit - race maybe too soon.

First two rated 98 and 92. Class 3 handicap stuff.

(Seriously, they're probably a good bit better than that but they won't be winning a major Derby.)

What a strange race, gonna have to watch it again and again, but there’s a good chance it still won’t make sense.

Normal service restored tomorrow as Dr Koukash has a runner in each race.
I missed his colours all week.

Anybody want to start a book on how many times the ITV people will refer to Koukash as ‘the good doctor’?

    Anyroads...

I was looking for a heavy-duty sickbag when I saw that Almighwar had not been declared for the Cup. Having 14/1 ante-post about a 9/2 favourite was shaping up as a nice position to be in and there was no indication that he wouldn’t run. I've looked at the race over and over for the sake of a bet with an angle (outsiders apart) and have landed on Who Dares Wins. He's near the top of my ratings table, has a low draw, arguably the best jockey in the race and I'm struggling to make a strong case for anything else.

Perhaps Mark Johnston entered five in it (four run) in the hope of getting a good draw for one of them! Hochfeld is drawn 2.

Not sure that made any difference tbh. He's just way better than his mark.

Only just caught the replay a moment ago without knowing the result.

Suffice to say the air in the Orchid hacienda was rather blue before they'd gone a furlong. You smash the SP to buggery and end up thwarted by a muppet of a ride.

I was about to post elsewhere that Marquand was emerging as a the best jockey around apart from Dettori but he fair fvcked up both this one and Who Dares Wins. Maybe Chester isn't his course but I haven't checked the stats.

    Pocket ranting.

He was too slow getting the hood off but he can get fucked there is no excuse missing the break from stall 1.

That's a trainer more than a jockey issue. Ge them in the gate at home and train that **** out of them.

I've a tracker horse from last year, Mia Mento, constantly lost races at the stalls and they've moved her from PCH to Jessie. Out at Naas tomorrow. Will monitor.
