It's based purely on pumping Ronald, which I had on 157p going into it, so I can allow him it until ongoing circumstances convince me I've over-rated him.

The chances are whichever races he takes in he's going to be vulnerable to anything half-decent an probably worth taking on.

Fvck alone knows what Power was up to on VDF but the fact that he made no effort to gee the horse along when they closed him down makes me think there was a problem.
Quite interesting that the Class 2 3m handicap hurdle that followed was run nearly 5secs faster which adds to the view that it turned into something of a sprint and makes Paisley Park’s run all the more promising.

It turned into a sprint and I was delighted with Paisley Park. He's run a very good race and I couldn't be happier. We only raced for just over a mile, but in a way that's no harm as it was a nice introduction. It was a great step in the right direction after what happened at Cheltenham. We were chasing the winner down with a penalty and I look forward to meeting him on level terms - Aidan Coleman

It would be of mild interest (in a bri-nylon, dandruff-spattered way) to know where these 5s were lost.

Does anyone have the gumption/wherewithal/insider-knowledge to provide the figures?

My guess is that the first half of the race was very sedate, but probably picked-up considerably when VDF hauled himself to the front with a circuit to go.

    You know me so well...

(At least I have the hair to have the dandruff )

My guess - if I run out paint drying that needs watching during the week I might use the time to dig deeper - is that the big race was probably 15 secs behind before VDF went to the front and the closed by ten seconds in the final mile. The chances are Simon Rowlands, who isn't as follically unchallenged as I am, will put something up in a few days' time.

What time did Grassy start necking the Mcewans ?

I thought I started early but I’m Jamie Spencer* by comparison.

It wasn’t so much the early start, as the searching pace, Lee.

PS. Cu*nt should have been chucked-out on Pizzaro.

    They’re not mutually exclusive pal.

And Pizzaro... It still hurts. I felt it more than Glen probably.

In his ITV commentary, R Hoiles opined they took 15secs to cross the start-line - go figure.

Yesterday's race was a 1-mile jog to the post, then a 1-mile canter, followed by a 1 mile-race...Paisley hardly had time for his customary 3 furlongs to go pressure lapse...McFabulous the least experienced in the race, was probably the most inconvenienced by the lack of pace, constantly hanging and pulling to the right....The winner's class allowed him the run of the race, and he was certainly the most advantaged (btn 2l by Envoi Allen, Abacadabras behind, in the bumper) by the sprint....I have a feeling, a true run race will see the protagonists come a lot closer!

If SDB, Paisley, Thyme Hill and Fury Road all get there it won't be far off the race of the Festival. Which is some feat for a Stayers'

Could be a cracking race if all turn up. Clearly a different pace scenario awaits.

    No mention of the winner?

Ronald Pump wins the Stayers 2021

May have won it last year but for a mistake at the last, brilliant little horse
