Road to the Ryanair Chase 2020

With the Ascot Chase up this weekend, feels about the right time to start the thread, as they surely can’t all go up to 3m or back to 2m.

Not that I particularly care about the outcome of Saturday’s race, as I’ve backed Master Dino at 33/1, following his two bloodless wins in minor events at Dieppe in August.

Shame he was bought by the Papots, as it probably means he’ll stay in France, but the genius Guillaume might convince them to have a crack at the Festival, after bringing him over to Plumpton a couple of seasons back.

Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

40s around for Simply The Betts now. When you consider Imperial Aura is a general 16/1 shot, 40 seems far too big for me.

Real Steal came cruising in the Gold Cup, I wouldn’t be to put off by him at this stage.

That was the £50,000 bonus...any idea why he didn't come...

Hairline fracture coming out of the Plumpton race.

Munir/Souede sent him to the sales, and the Papots picked him up for €420K.

Not a chance he'd get the trip until they can get rid of his wayward tendancies and get him to settle.

FWIW though. I've not given up on him either. Also there won't be any crowds at Naas at the weekend, and depending on prices he might be worth a bet in what could be a hot little race.

I agree , much too big based on a seasonal debut. It's potentially a hot looking Ryanair this season though.

Problem with Allaho (who wins if he runs I agree):

1 - The owner wants to win a Gold Cup

2 - A Plus Tard does not look like a 2 miler so likely ends up in the Ryanair again - can we really see CP having two in the race nothing in either the QM or Gold Cup?

In the absence of Allaho I think I'd favour the Marsh form from last year over the Ryanair itself.

Chris's Dream would also interest me (would be a tidy NRNB option in the new year)

The owners can win their Gold Cup next year Euro

It was plain for everybody to see in last year's RSA that Allaho doesn't want 3m2f and hopefully CP will have realised that too. They might point to the fact he was only a 6 year old and could see the trip out when strengthening up but he's a Frenchie so I don't buy into that.

    He wins this IMO.

Excellent performance from Imperial Aura. Was very impressed with the way that when David Bass asked him for some longer jumps, he came up for him and really put Real Steel's jumping under pressure.

Probably tripless but I would be giving the Stayers Hurdle route a crack!

Imperial Aura is a lovely horse that I like, I like the trainer, I like the jockey. 6/1 for the Ryanair is absurd though.

I agree. I might have imagined it, but didn’t Olly Murphy mention it as a possibility at one point?
