Good ground horse that’ll be 9 at the turn of the year and needs to go up some to have any chance of sneaking into the race his owner loves. Win this, put him away during the rainy months, Jonjo style return then Aintree.

    What price the double ?
Tom Scudamore Knows how to ride a steering job in this race...Sizing Tenessee and Madison du Berlais

Im jerking off reading his dosage

    Scu’s or Cloth Cap’s

And (after timer alert) I backed SZ at 16s for this as the main bet. Looking back it was probably the point where I stopped sending the hate mail.

Moderate jockeys are like moderate trainers. Even they can’t get in the way of a good one, but they’re rarely much cop on one that needs help.

You know and I know you’d probably have a dozen ahead of him, if you were given your choice.

PS. “How to ride” = “Not fall off”.

I used to worry if I saw Tom Scu on one I wanted to back but I now rate him a positive.

I still rate RJ a tit.

I always assume that there are links between the Nicholls and Skelton yards and that they pretty much agree to split certain races they know they can win.

I thought TOTG was a cert for this but his absence maybe opened a door Skelton thought was closed.

Absinthe is not a Thursday evening drink, DO - you need to calm it doon, pal.

RJ a liability no matter how much hooch you’ve necked. I fully expect Thyme Hill to come with a winning run tomorrow, only for RJ fail to find a stride, lose every scrap of momentum trying to fiddle the last, and get beaten a running-on neck.

I think I might still be suffering the UTPT Ultima win hangover.

I do think he's very good tactically and maybe it was UTPT's owner who changed my mind when she raved about how, the evening before the race, he had talked through the ride he was going to give it and carried it out to perfection. I can't even do that with my sex life.

Skelton is very unstylish but what I like about him is that he never gives up the inside on a trier. If Ardlethen is taken wide tomorrow I'll know it isn't off.

    Dan Skelton quote's Ardlethen.

"He’s kept really good company without winning another one. I am trying to have him ready for a valuable handicap"

Skelton said: “I’ve got to talk to Mike and Eileen Newbould (owners) about him, but the thing about him is he wants three miles in soft ground".

Surely we know now that trainer comments are to be treated with a pinch of salt.

Nicholls on Frodon on Oct said it all.

The horse has form on soft and heavy...with such a low weight the desired heavy ground would be in his favour too!

It was good ground when he hammered The Cashel Man (could win this afternoon) and GS when he beat Lisnagar Oscar.

If it gets too fast he might not run, I suppose, but right now I'm not too worried.

As an aside, whooda thunk two pages pack that we'd be discussing Ardlethen!

I've been keen all summer for Copperhead in this but am suffering brewers droop on his chances now (ground, Tizzard) and will leave it at the 14s I took AP. I have now decided that Aye Right is a cast iron died in the wool lay down certainty and he's my bet. I've also had a couple of pence on Ballyoptic at 150s on the exchange.

Good to see you are all getting on as well as ever. Between The Hennessy Gold Cup The Massey Ferguson and The Mackeson ..The Hennessy / The Ladbroke has done best in holding it's own in recent years. Top Dogs like Denman (2), Bobs Worth Many Clouds and Native River going on to bigger and better things.

That said while Vindication and David Bass look worthy favs I doubt if the race will produce Gold Cup winner number 8 out of this field.

I reckon the way Bailly's horses are running a David Bass is riding they will take some beating.

A couple of ew bets on Vindication and Black Op could end up showing a profit.

Good to hear from you, Tan.

So you haven't succombed to Covid 19 yet?

    That's a good thing.

I hope you are right about Vinndication. I want him to win and win bloody well.

What on Earth has happened to Copperhead?
