    Ante Post Competition rules

Below is a copy of the usual rules for the Ante Post competition - thanks DG

I will start a thread for entries as well - could one of the moderators lock it until Sunday please (or let me know how to do it myself - if I can)

I don't know how much interest there will be in the competition this year but hopefully we will get some entries.

Talking Horses Ante Post competition, rules and conditions
    1. The competition will open for entries at 12.01am on Sunday 1st November 2020 and close at midnight on Saturday 28th February 2021 and as in previous years, will be run by NewApproach.

    2. Two prizes will be awarded, one of £100 sponsored by frontrunner (£50) and Tout Seul (£50) plus the perpetual Alan Morgan trophy donated by Tout Seul to the person whose bets generate the most winnings, and one of £50 sponsored by Perpetual to the person whose portfolio has the highest notional value on Sunday 1st March 2021.

    3. Participants will have a separate virtual bank for each month of the competition as follows:

    November - £1000
    December - £1000
    January - £1000
    February - £2000

    4. The bank for each month can only be used during the month to which it refers.

    5. Bets can be placed on the ante post market for any race at the Cheltenham Festival with any of the following twelve “allowed” bookmakers whose odds are displayed on oddschecker.com.
    bet365
    Sky bet
    WilliamHill
    888sport
    Betfair sportsbook
    Betvictor
    Paddy Power
    Unibet
    Betfred
    betway
    Boylesports
    sportingbet

No other bookmaker or any exchange will form part of the competition.
    6. Only single or each way bets, including bets on a horse "to win any Festival race” or “betting without a named horse” will be accepted. A link must be provided to the odds on relevant site if a bet on a horse "to win any Festival race” or “betting without a named horse” is submitted or the bet will be declined. The competition organisers reserve the right to refuse bets in cases where the advertised price is blatantly out of sync with other bookmakers and is probably displayed in error although if it can be proved the price was genuinely available it will subsequently be accepted. NRNB, Multiple bets and other special bets which relate to more than one race do not form part of this competition. A “thanks” at the bottom of each post is an indicator that NewAproach, has checked the bet and that it has been recorded.

    7. The place part of each-way bets will be settled at ¼ odds regardless of place terms offered by any bookmaker. This will include “to win any race” bets if a bookmaker offers each way prices.
    8. The minimum bet size is £250 win or £125 each way in November, December and January and £500 win or £250 each way in February. Any bet placed below the minimum bet size will be deemed invalid with immediate effect and the virtual stake returned. In the event a player wishes to increase their bet to the minimum bet size a new post must be made and the odds will be those available at the time the new post is submitted regardless of whether the odds have increased or decreased.
    9. The maximum cumulative amount allowed across the four months on any one horse in any one race is £1,500. Bets on a horse in the "to win any festival race" and/or “betting without a named horse or fav” market count towards this maximum.

    10. Once a bet has been submitted it cannot be cancelled or changed unless the rules demand it.
    11. The winner of the main prize will be the person whose final portfolio of bets generates the highest winnings.
    12. The secondary prize will go to the portfolio which at 7.30pm on Sunday 1st March 2021 has the highest 'notional value'. This is the total sum one would need to wager, taking the best available odds at 7.30PM on Sunday 1st March 2021, to achieve the same potential winnings as the bets in the portfolio. (In simpler terms, bets on horses whose odds shorten during the winter gain value, while bets on drifters lose value).

    13. In any unforeseen event the organiser will have the right to clarify, modify or add to the rules as deemed appropriate.
    14. Any disputes, the decision of NewApproach is final.
PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY VIRTUAL BETS ON THIS THREAD WHICH IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY.

I don't think so - it is DG who runs it and I think there wasn't enough interest in it this year. It was my favourite one too

Yeah me too. I'll be entering the ten-to-follow proper via their website. You have to be in it to win it

I know the TTF won’t happen now due to lack of interest. Anyone know if DG is doing ok?

He’s not posted for while even over a decent weekend of racing such as the one we’ve had.
