    NH Decs

Have they changed the final declaration stage to 48 hours for NH racing?

I ask because Friday's card at Chepstow looks for all the world like final decs. All horses have jockeys booked and the field sizes look somewhere around what you might expect of the card.

Big article about this in today’s RP. Looks like 48 hour decs for all NH races is now here to stay.

They're a bonus on the flat, and there's no solid reason why they wouldn't be, over jumps.

I'm delighted that it's at least staying for the time being.

I understand Hendo's argument but for people like me who like to get their teeth into the form the extra 24 hours' study is a godsend.

There will probably more impact on the number of non-runners compared with the Flat but I would imagine only a tiny percentage of betting turnover will be affected.

The bookies will no doubt use it to manipulate R4 in their favour, at least in the short term, but I've noticed recently that not many actually put up their odds until well into Thursday evening as things stand and the bigger races are unlikely to be affected any more than before.

This will now give my Friday fish supper a proper chance to digest with me sitting in a comfortable chair in front of the telly rather than haunched over the table trying to pull together all my figures and summaries.

I do hope the 48-hr decs stay.

48 hour decs absolutely should stay. There's no reason for them not to despite what Henderson says. He just needs to be more creative with his excuses if he wants to pull one out.
