Do punters chase value or prices?

Punters, after you've been through the form book and come up with your selections, do you have any perception of a price which make them bets? If you do, would you rather that the exchanges only priced races half an hour before the off?

"Wouldn’t it be great if it were illegal to price up or bet on an event until half an hour before it was due to happen? Imagine the frenetic betting action that would take place in that 30 minutes, on and off course, what a dust up it would be".

Would be even better if those pricing up were obliged to lay their prices to a decent amount.
