    From RP Stable tour

We had one of the wettest winters and the wettest February on record but when Native River ran at Newbury in the Denman Chase the ground was quick. We thought about pulling him out of the race but felt we had to run – and he won – but he picked up a small injury that eventually forced him out of the Gold Cup. It was a big shame because he was in brilliant form. He's not finished at all and he's in great form again at the moment. We want to give him two runs before the Gold Cup, and if it's soft ground there it will help him. There aren't too many races before then for him anyway as he'd be carrying a stone more if we went back to something like the Welsh National, so we'll look to go back to the Many Clouds at Aintree, which he won last year. The Grand National isn't on the owners' agenda, everything is geared up to getting him to the Gold Cup. He's forgotten about a bit but he's a brilliant stayer – not many horses have finished first, third and fourth in a Gold Cup.

If you can rely on trainer quotes.

It's unlikely he can win this but a repeat of either run last season + soft ground and he has a better than one in ninety chance IMO.

Listening back to the show now. A point struck me.

Imagine the excitement if there was no Marsh chase, and we would have Envoi Allen vs Shisken build up beginning now.

Can't see it, not unless ABP somehow misses it.

Shishkin would get a lovely lead in to the race!

As usual, I don't agree with this, but good to see you posting again anyway, pal.

I had to leave the house mid-morning before getting my bet on Whatmore so was urging Yorkhill all the way home.

I love when these old dogs get revitalised by small-time trainers.

I still think Yorkhill was swinging before coming down in last years Hennessy.

Cracking little race at Aintree on Saturday

Santini, Native River and Frodon declared for the Many Clouds chase

Native River for me at 5/2 is a good bet, always seems to be at his best 1st time out and is 2/2 at Aintree

Christ. Santini. Be off the bridle after fence 2. Probably be able to see if as well if ITV aren’t salavating over Bryony Frost.

I’ll be back Keepers Hill on the basis I like none of the horses.

Might play a drinking game. Have a shot every time Hollie Doyle and Frost are mentioned. You’ll be **** faced after race 2.

Without knowing their respective fitness levels, it's probably a race best watched. All of them fit and ready and they don't see which way Santini goes.

I'm tempted by Frodon, though. He should be hard fit and that might just tell.

Off the bridle in the parade ring you mean. Still may not stop him winning!

Native off it in his box.

    Frodon- Well!

Surely Nstive will be after an extra few pounds off for Nash? Even if he was hard fit, way Tizzards stable is atm its best left alone.

Don’t rate Santini. Don’t know why, just never took to it.

Frodon jd probably like if someone else rode it.
