Nice 2 1/2m listed race this afternoon and here’s my brief assessment:

Fiddlerontheroof – top rated hurdler, always going to be a chaser, decent course form (a positive at Chepstow). Almost certain to come on for the run and trainer had an in & out day yesterday
Fusil Raffles – Good hurdler, ground fine and step up in trip should suit. Will improve from Uttoxeter but will have to as wasn’t overly impressed with his jumping. No course form
Grand Sancy – Experienced chaser and taking advantage of extended novice season. Ran in some of the top races last year. Jumps well, back on decent going which is a positive, has a course win and stable started incredibly well
Longhouse Sale – Not quite up to the others on hurdles OR’s, but has had a great summer and looks a complete natural over fences. No course form
Paint the Dream – The most experienced but without a win in 5 goes over fences. Good 2nd in the Dipper but that’s not really working out. Ground shd be fine but looks up against it

At the prices will stick with Longhouse Sale’s jumping to get him home, with a saver on Grand Sancy

Longhouse Sale looks the value alright. Fusil Raffles didn’t impress on debut and was flattered IMO as the runner up folded approaching the last. Don’t like Grand Sancy over fences and he may be better going right handed anyway

Right interesting beginners chase at Tipp tomorrow.

Captain guiness is out and taking him on is one that might interest grassy, a half brother to that monkey Great field
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

Looking forward to this race today. See how Captain Guinness does. I’m also certain 1 of JPs in today’s race will be aimed for a nice novice handicap chase of some sort, will be keeping a close eye.

Very tidy performance - even with the jolly running no sort of race.

He took it on and nothing could live with.

Guessing he may be somewhat ground dependent

Not as much of a headbanger as his relative but like to see a novice take a race in that manner

Hope it’s nothing serious with Captain Guinness, but was quite taken with the winner. He looked to be loving the jumping and there’s always a possibility he gets underestimated because of how the favourite ran

Fair price I reckon and another plus is he's with Willie Mullins, so even though he's JP's unlikely to be messed around with...

Biggest concern is that he looked as impressive first time out last year. Jumped great.

Captain Guinness declared clinically abnormal by the vet which was enough for me to cash out my antepost voucher for the time being. Clinically abnormal can be a real worry, and even if he recovers quickly and is back in full training by Christmas he'll be a seriously inexperienced horse come March.

In answer to Entoucas, I'd be looking further down the field DJ. Entoucas ran his race and wasn't hidden away and doesn't look like a plot job. Gordon is the master of that, getting Grade 1 horses into handicaps off ridiculous marks even after the UK handicapper has had his say. Aramax has now had two very quiet races, and expect him to 'improve for experience and Spring ground' before going off 3/1 in the Grand Annual of near bottom weight.

I'd love to hear why his form dipped so quickly and he wasn't considered for the Festival last season. Something wasn't quite right with his campaign, so that explanation is the key to whether he could be top class and is one to get onside, or alternatively that it's more likely he'll fall short when he meets the best horses around.

Anyone heard anything about what issues he might have had if any? It could be as simple as he struggles to stand up to Willie's training regime or doesn't come out of his races well. But I'd rather hear there was something specific and he's over it now.
