Gutted not to be there Friday but have booked the afternoon off work, will buy a case of Guinness, a paper copy of the Racing Post and munch my way through 3 overpriced cheeseburgers to make it feel realistic. On the plus side, I’ll get a partial membership refund, so already a few ££ ahead...

Not far out Paul, usually around 7000, to date just short of 4000 have taken up full membership. If sporting events are limited to 5000 or a percentage of capacity I believe members will get priority. Fingers crossed it could be very enjoyable with a crowd of 5000

The letter from the course said members would get priority if limited crowds are allowed back.

No guarantee that all 4000 would be let in at once the way things are going for some time, so would be on a first come first served - that's the last correspondence I received, and that seems some way off. A petition making it's way round on Twitter to appeal to the government to let crowds back in.

If Man United can hold in 23500 fans safely and socially distant then I'm sure Cheltenham can manage 5000.

They say, sure that would have to be checked if and when. Wasn't Donny less than that number? Are they basing in on square acreage?

I have seen some racecourses saying only 2 owners per horse now allowed in...that's really unfair, with all the time restrictions in place as they are anyway. Big horse has 4 registered owners who always go and watch him, so now 2 of them won't be allowed?

I'm sure I saw Nick Rust say that the other day. Owners (maximum 2 whilst we are locked down again). They can only arrive 45 minutes before their horse runs and then they are expected to bugger off almost straight away. No hospitality.
Got no idea what they base it on GG, certainly ain't common sense!

Thanks for the link, Perpetual. Informative and perhaps what I needed to rekindle my enthusiasm for the game.
I usually attend for the weekend, often with several family members, and would normally have some decent AP bets for this meeting as well as some for March. None for this weekend so far and relatively small bets for the Festival. Watching tonight brought back some good memories and has certainly given me some motivation to get down and do the work for the weekend.

If it's PP there has to be either a catch or a swizz.

They’ve never given any reason the basterts and the most I’ve ever won on that account is a measly £200 ffs

6 finalists all to be given a horse.

Probably a 12 runner race and the horse with no one assigned will probably hack up. Decent offer though

Probably six PP office workers paid £100 to pretend to be ordinary punters taking part and maybe the winner gets an extra century.

The idea of PP giving away £1m is laughable. More chance of O'Leary giving Ryanair passengers free luggage and bevy.

Sounds like there could be crowds allowed at the December meeting after today’s news.

Pretty pissed off at the email they have sent members. Basically if numbers are restricted we have to enter a ballot to see if we can gain entry. Membership at this stage is down on usual at around 4700, my guess is Cheltenham will be put in tier 2 thus 2000 being allowed to attend . A lot of the 4700 will be in tier 3 and unable to attend so why they just don't spilt the days and offer 1 day to each member I don't know. To rub salt in the wounds the greedy feckers have said anyone who buys hospitality automatically get in with out having to go through the ballot process.

The hospitality thing takes the ****!
Also they mentioned getting a refund if you are unsuccessful in the ballot, so I would imagine that if you don't apply for the ballot then you won't be eligible for a refund.
You'd like to think that with the Tier system they may be able to accommodate the vast majority of members in Tier 1/Tier 2 who apply.
