    Geraghty

One of the last of that generation - Johnson and Russell maybe the only ones left from the turn of the century

Weve had a golden era of NH jockeys over the last 15 years with Mccoy, Walsh, Geraghty and the 2 you mentioned all around at the same time

Be interesting to see who gets the JP job in England now

Hope one of the good young uns like Jonjo Jr or Tom Cannon gets it but it'll probably be Coleman (yawn)

You can only wish him well. There have been spells in his career where he's really shone. After losing AP and Ruby to retirement, it's a real shame to lose Geraghty as well.

The timing is a bit of a surprise in the middle of summer. Also he's just come off the back of a fantastic Festival, and JP possibly has the strongest hand of horses he's ever had. I guess it makes sense to retire on a high, and I presume there's a plan. Good luck to him whatever it is.

I suspect it'll be spread around for the moment, and it won't be one retained job. Johnson on the Hobbs horses, Nico on the Henderson horses, etc. I'm sure he'd be hopeful that Jonjo Jr will step up to the plate, and he'll presumably pick up the rides where a stable doesn't have one of the top boys attached.

You'd think that JJJr has been earmarked for this for a while, and maybe he is readier 12 months ahead of plan. Definitely JPs best set of horses ever. There was a couple of years where AP was going to struggle for a festival winner.

Where he first really came on the scene.

One of the good guys is Barry.
He is a tremendous horseman who could make horses run for him with no apparent effort.
Lucky enough to ride the very best horses around ; Moscow Flyer , Sprinter Sacre and Jezki, not forgetting the ride he gave Monty's Pass at Aintree.
Wishing him all the very best.

    Big race Barry.

Davy Russell the last of the golden generation of Irish at least

He apparently has no interest in training so buying and selling them and someone will pick him up for TV work

My greatest BG memory, has to be on Moscow at Sandown
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

He was really kind with my young racing obsessed 8YO nephew once at Leopardstown. Bent down to eye level, engaged with the lad, listened and chatted with him. Some of his contemporaries didn't have quite the same level of people skills.
"And still they gazed and still the wonder grew. That one small head could carry all he knew.

And that small head knew that Impaire Et Passe would win the Champion Hurdle."

I remember slim and myself being in awe of Mark Walsh'd broad shoulders once at Leop near the owners bar

He could of bent down to engage with us but alas he was too busy
