In the Maurice De Gheest (2.50 Deauv) Lope Y Fernandez should lie up a bit closer than he did in the Diane, over this slightly shorter trip and looks a solid punt @ B365's 11/1.

Reckon Mishriff is vulnerable on the forecast ground in the gp2 @ Deauville, and I've taken him on with Victor Ludorum at b365's 2/1

Nicely done Palace Pier. 2nd has ran another good race.

Palace Pier and Mishriff looked good on paper and so it proved. Intetesting to see if Mishriff ends up in the Arc or Champion Stakes.

In tomorrow's Moulin, I'm pretty certain Coolmore will know the time of day with Pinatubo's limitations, and RM looks sure to serve it up to him on Circus Maximus .Longchamp will suit better than Goodwood too (won this last year, off a strong pace) so Siskin has plenty to find too. As I pointed out on another thread, RM faces quarantine to ride him, so they're sure to turn up with all guns blazing.
Taken 5/1 in a couple of places.

Fascinating race that. Good ride on the winner. Doyle would like to ride that again I'm sure.

No great pace on, which was disappointing, really. Siskin appeared not to stay, and Pinatubo's finish emphasises it wasn't much of a contest, at all.

Just checked Longines' sectionals (Youtube) and they confirm early impressions - the last 3f all run well under 12 s.p.f.
Daft blaming James Doyle for holding Pinatubo up, given the horse's record.

Kicking myself for not backing the winner. Had already backed CM and then I watched PK literally float to post. He looking in fantastic shape but I will admit it was an enterprising ride that paid off. I almost thought Pinatubo was going to catch him. Some turn of foot.

Two good news stories from Churchill Downs last night.
1 The success of myracehorse stables' Authentic in Kentucky Derby.
Listening to Jack Cantillon this morning on RTV it is lovely to think that $200 can buy you a micro share in such a horse.
    Anyone here involved ?

2 Beau Recall's repeat success in Mare Turf Grade 2 mile race.
She is a graduate from a Tipperary 2yo Claimer when Ado McGuinness trained her, was not claimed on the night but sold after to US after x rays taken.
(She had a value of 25k to 30k
That race was worth 10k to winner and was also a plus 10 race, doubling the winner's pot.
She has now won in excess of a million in prizemoney.
Since claiming races have become more common in Ireland somewhere between 1000000 and 1500000 has been traded in exchange of horses officially.
Plenty more horses have changed hands privately as once they are entered for such races people know they are for sale.
Interest is global for these horses and HRI should have more of them.
An Capall wrote a stirring article on this a few years ago; now is the time for a follow up !

Authentic seems to have done it the hard way too, going by the in running comments.

Still trying to figure out RM's ride on Circus Maximus as I can't have it, he's such a poor judge of pace. Second guessing Coolmore is a fraught occupation, but I surmise there'd be a financial end game?
The only logical answer has to be a 2nd assault on the Breeder's Cup, which would prove far more lucrative (viz, his stud fee) than another European gp1.
Only quoted for BC mile (12/1) but ante-post's risky anyway, in these Covid times.

Surely a European gp1 in addition to a BC gp1 would be better than throwing one of them?

Your argument seems to be a conspiracy worthy of desert orchids best work.

Only surmising, Simmo - though why give a horse a hard race unnecessarily?

    James Doyle:
"It's annoying when the front two get a break on you like that but we were mindful of the mile and we wanted to ride him patiently".

Ryan Moore taking the hit on quarantine suggests to me that yesterday was the target.

That would assume he's a poor judge of pace, and Coolmore don't train horses on the racecourse (and pick up 26k in the process) ?

The pace was what you would expect from someone trying to win from the front. A race in early September wouldn't be used as a training exercise for another in Nov imo.

Well, he did finish one place better than his price so maybe turning it into a staying fest was thought to be the best chance.

But the sectionals (and the RP analysis) show it wasn't a testing pace?
