Wylie bowing out, and now Malcolm Denmark's Next Destination and the Sullivan horses. Why now?

The initial reason for their presence in Ireland was the good prize money and Willy Mullins' excellence. Both factors apply as strongly as ever.

Covid and the accompanying quarantine restrictions might have been a consideration, that and the continuing complications liable to arise from the hard version of Brexit that looks increasingly likely. Or did Paul Nicholls make the kind of offer that the rest of us would prefer not to visualise?

The Irish prize-money is well down in the short term.

I'd be inclined to take the 'wants his horses trained in the UK', and presumably racing here as well, as the main and perfectly valid reason.

True, archie, the Irish prize money is well down at the moment but not as much as British prize money. In relative terms it has improved, I would say.

As you say, deciding to have your horses trained closer to home is a perfectly valid option, especially with the continuing doubt about travel restrictions.
