    Hamilton 12.00

Only five runners. The two on my 'to note' list are My Best Friend (7/4) and Jumierah Challenge (6/1). The former made his debut over 7f. at Thirsk wearing a visor. The visor is on again but the trip is a stiff six furlongs. He ran a rather strange race at Thirsk, slowly away and then rushed up to dispute the lead with the favourite, and eventual winner High Peak, until approaching the final furlong where the horse appeared to weaken and wasn't persevered with eventually finishing fifth. Surprised he's favourite (15/8 now) for this on that running. Jumierah Challenge looks the better value of the two at those prices, Adrian Nicholls' colt made his debut over six at Redcar where he missed the break by some way but he had made up the ground by halfway and was working his way through the field when he took a bump that caused him to lose his momentum. any chance that he had was gone but he was running on again at the line to finish sixth. The stiff climb to the line at Hamilton should suit.

That 2-y-o event at Hamilton was not a pretty race to watch, the soft to heavy going proving a bit too much for these babies. My Best Friend ground out the win but I'm afraid Jumierah Challenge was the first one beaten after disputing the lead over the first two furlongs. No a race to dwell on there will be other days.

The race that I'm interested in today is the Thirsk 4.30 and the horse I'm interested is Unleash (5/1), he put in a remarkable performance on debut at Beverley. He missed the break and was almost tailed off last with 2f. to run, started to make ground rapidly until running into traffic problems inside the last still ran on well to finish fifth beaten seven lengths. The 5f. at Thirsk may well be too sharp for him so I'm not sure if he is worth a bet. If you can have a look at the Beverley race (Wed. 17th. June 12.20) and share your thoughts.

Unleash looks interesting today, Colin, and he's being backed accordingly.

Disappointing from Unleash, still looks green missing the break again and looking a touch slow when push came to shove. A better start and more of a test needed if he is going to pick up a race.

    Chepstow 6.00 Bodak Yellow

This KODI BEAR colt made a promising debut nine days ago at Wolverhampton over today's trip. Not the quickest from the stalls he was niggled along at the back of the field and only had one behind as they turned into the straight, he then realised what was needed and picked up the bit to make ground down the outside of the field, kept on really well to finish second to Snash, one of the joint favourites, and seven lengths clear of the rest. 11/10 at the moment in a field of 13, not my sort of bet. Bound to win now.

The only people happy with Bodack Yellow's run yesterday would be the bookmakers. The 11/8 favourite was very reluctant to enter the stalls and only little less disposed to vacate them. He lost 10 lengths on the leaders and didn't show any signs that he he was likely to make any sort of challenge. Hopefully there will be other days.

    Musselburgh 1.20

Infant Hercules is a gelding I made a note of on his debut at Thirsk 7f. 12/1 that day he was ridden in midfield and when asked for an effort he looked a little short of pace but he was running on at the finish, looking as if he needed a more demanding test. Not sure that this 7f. will be stiff enough for his stamina to come into play. There are only four runners and his price at 5/4 isn't in the least tempting.

Infant Hercules drifted out to 2/1 and was no match for the well-backed, Mark Johnston-trained, Night Moment who won by seven lengths.

    Haydock 12.00

Line Of Departure is of interest here. Blinkered on his debut at this course he still managed to be slowly away and run green. The message got through eventually and Roger Varian's colt was running on well at the finish. Trades at 11/4 currently, blinkered again and much improvement expected.

Line of Departure, dwelt again but was there with every chance entering the final but weakened quickly into fifth. The race won by the KODI BEAR debutant Cobh.
