I got this in the post at the weekend. You can download the horses mouth app and hover your phone over some of the pics (those with the little symbol in the corner) to get some background. For the one with Ed Chamberlin you get an interview.
Nice but I’m sure many would prefer cheaper bar or ticket prices

The older I get the better I was.
Bonjers (16th October 2019), Carl (16th October 2019), Grasshopper (29th October 2019), jinnyj (28th October 2019)
Interesting stat.
I think that it's slightly skewed by the dry autumn. The breakdown for 2017/18 is:
3 May
1 August
9 October
4 November
5 December
1 January
4 February
1 March
If I take it any further I'll probably concentrate on championship and novice races.
The older I get the better I was.
It's interesting stuff, but I'm not seeing a huge trend that I could use to influence my betting patterns - in fact, it would be fair to say that there doesn't appear to be too much disadvantage in when you start them off - it probably follows the general pattern of when horses that run at Cheltenham start off their campaigns.
The older I get the better I was.
Press release re next week's Showcase Meeting, since release the McNeills have stated the preferred option for The Butcher Said is a 3m race on the Saturday.

When I started punting in the early 80's you just completely discounted anything that ran before the first of October when it came to the festival.I think it shows how the game has changed in that time -a four day festival, a dedicated summer jumping season you see Willie Mullns French imports winning at places like Sligo and there is no telling how good they are.The excellent drainage is also a factor.
Looking at last season's Festival winners in another way, I was struck that there were 14 French bred and 14 Irish bred (and thus no GB bred) winners. Digging a little deeper I came across this article which makes interesting reading:

All you need for this weeks meeting....
1. Going: https://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/chel...ers/the-going/
2. Weather: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gcnx0z9e5
3. Entries: Friday https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/...ober-2019/1400
If you're too lazy to click 1 & 2, it's currently Good, Good to Soft in places, but looks a dry week so probably Good by Friday

£6.30 a pint now (crap lager), outrageous.
Guinness £6.00. They have 10% bar price inflation every year which is scandalous and I may have to stop drinking!
One of the bacon bap thingies now charging £6 for a roll when it was £5 end of last season, when it was literally a roll with two small over cooked rashers in it.
Vote Alfie!!!!

I like Vengeur De Guye from Lucinda Russell's yard in the 2 mile chase on Friday. He races with a very low weight with a five pound claimer.
I reckon it was a career best the last day with top weight. He has the profile of a dark horse upped in class.
Bun Doran is a horse I know about but not for me at that price and I think I have found the right alternative in the shape of Vengeur De Guye.

Plenty of clues this weekend then

So, an average of 4 out of 28 winners per year have run at the November meeting. Interesting but not exactly earth-shattering. I like my stats but without the number of runners who ran in November and failed in March there isn't much context.
