Quite a few changes to the NH chase criteria. Will there be enough qualifying jockeys!

Which race do people reckon will be axed to make way for the new 2m4f mares' chase in 2021?

I'd bin off the Close Brothers personally. 145 rated novices should be in the JLT.

It has a very compressed handicap as well these days.

That said - a 2m4f Mares Chase sounds like a snooze fest to me. Much like the other mares races.

    Mares Novice Hurdle should go.

Absolutely the Close Bros. The JLT has had no more than 10 runners the last 3 years and the Close Bros has had a maximum weight range of 8lb.

All novice races should be championship class and there's an argument that the mares allowance should be less at championship level.

Agreed getting rid of the Close Bros handicap would make the JLT more competitive, but think both have been quality, entertaining renewals for the last few years. That’s more than can be said for the mares novices, which gets my vote for the bullet

As the JLT & Ryanair are now well established and not withstanding the fact that the Mares hurdle has, with a couple of notable exceptions deprived us of top class mares running in the Champion Hurdle (and they're obviously not going to bring in a mares race by dropping another), the two races that have had the most detrimental effect on other races IMO are the Close Bros and the Fred Winter

So, as much as I'm sure we all love trying to predict how that unraced in Britain French juvenile is going to perform off 132, I'd ditch the Fred Winter.

I am with Tiggers drop the mares novice hurdle . Mares can enter every single race at the festival and get an 7lb allowance in the big uns . They now have a mares only day in April as well but perhaps my biggest gripe is not seeing the best mares taking on the boys in the championship races and settling for the easy black type against their own sex.

In years gone by I suspect the popular opinion would have been to ditch the X-Country. It's become popular though and I'd say it's pretty safe.

I can go along with the train of thought that the Mares races should be finals and the Mares Novices could go. I also wouldn't discount losing either the Close Bros or the Fred Winter.

I suspect I'm completely alone though when I say the Champion Bumper should be the one to go. It's just unnecessary. By popular opinion it's a schooling race for young horses, but most of the runners come from the pointing field already with experience of three mile chasing. I don't get the point of the race anymore. Sure run a million Bumpers all over the UK and Ireland across the season for educational purposes. But why do we need a 2 mile flat race at the Festival? In my opinion it adds absolutely nothing to the four days.

I'd much rather have handicaps like the Fred Winter or the Close Bros, with more sensible entry conditions ensuring the Triumph and JLT aren't compromised as they are now.

    The Gold Cup.
Now that a Tramore winner has won it the race has lost all credibility !

Made it a grade 3 during the week
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

Fake news, I shouldn't post after an all ireland pummeling

Tramore were parading some Grade 3 horse, i misheard it as they had upped the status of the Savills Chase or something like that
