    Novice Chasers 2019/20

Early Doors of JOB the first one of note for the season ahead - Ballinrobe next Tuesday

He is one of note if he makes the transition to fences

granger's already mentioned him on the Galway thread, but looking forward to Zero Ten in the beginners at 17.55

He avoided grade 1's last season, but think he could end up that class over jumps. A shame I've cancelled RUK for the summer, but that does mean I'll have to back him to watch live!

Looked like one who'll end up a decent handicapper

Wicklow brave needs mentioning on this thread. Done nothing wrong to date in his two chases. Won as a horse of his talent should but notably fewer quirks to date over genes. Guess the drinmore will be the target before being a dangerous outsider in the arkle.

Far too old to be getting involved in an Arkle surely!

Yet, was beaten 4l by Buveur D'Air and Supasundae in May. Not too many Arkle candidates could do that. Guessing not Dud De Geneivres. I'm not saying that WB will win, or should run in the Arkle, or even be one of the favourites, but he is the type that will have supporters looking at that sort of formline and claim he is the forgotten about horse in the race.

Anyway, far too early to be talking about these inferior twig hoppers

Its why he was evens this week against horses not fit to be in the same field as him. So easy to pick holes and have doubts, but there wont be too many higher rated hurdlers going chasing this year, if any. Just saying that he needs to be included in this thread. Horses like Zero Ten and Early Doors will need to improve stones (in jumping especially) to get to his ceiling.

I wonder if Wicklow Brave could be aimed at the Grand Annual.

Zero Ten is unlikely to return to competitive action until November following his winning debut over fences at the Galway Festival.Having won a bumper and three of his four starts over hurdles - including a lucrative success at the Punchestown Festival in May - the six-year-old ex-pointer was unsurprisingly prohibitive odds to make a winning start over the larger obstacles at Ballybrit.
However, while he ultimately rewarded odds-on backers with victory, his jumping failed to convince - and Mullins subsequently revealed his stable star "wasn't quite right" in the days following the race.
Almost a month on, the trainer is pleased to report his charge is now back on the gallops, but he will not rush him back to the racecourse.
Mullins said: "He's back in slow exercise and back on the road again. We'll take our time with him - and we're in no great rush.
"He's an exciting horse for novice chases. We’re nearly in September now, and I’d say it will probably be November before he runs again.
"Hopefully he’ll be running in some nice races."

They mentioned he landed in the middle of a fence which took some good for him

Pretty sure he will be campaigned for pots rather than prizes. Avoid the Arkle unless it's a winnable renewal and take in at least 2 of Fairyhouse Aintree and punch

Probably not novice as in the terms of national hunt definition of novice, but excuse Miss Thicky here , but really looking forward to seeing Prince Llewelyn over fences, plan is to bypass hurdle races as he is ENORMOUS, and is obviously crying out for further than 2 miles.
    Vote Alfie!!!!

    Pot hunting all the way.
Not a natural over fences and put the brakes on when he hit the front.

Puppy gave him a good mention

"He's a remarkable horse and the improvement he has shown since I rode him at Chepstow last October is unbelievable," Power said. "He was treated for ulcers over Christmas and came back a different horse. I believe the plan is to go chasing and he would have done plenty of schooling in the past, so he's definitely one to really look forward to."

    Topofthegame out for the season

Real shame. I think he won't end up being the best of last years crop but serious potential none the less
