Went last night to see Paul Young - don't, just don't if you want to grow old as I have loved him for a VERY long time and it was an unexpected present - and the support was a young lady called Sinead Burgess. Not my first choice of musical genre but she was absolutely brilliant. Her album is called Damaged Goods - look her up if you can.

I've always thought Paul young has a great voice but generally fairly naff songs to go with it. Bought his Greatest hits a couple of years ago.

Every time I heard his last single, it just reminded me of Robert Palmer.

PY's voice is not what it was, has had reported issues with, but he has great support especially in the form of Jamie Rose, and he has adapted his style. When he went very 'soully/R&B wasn't that keen on that style of music and thought it didn't actually suit him, but very good live, particularly when he had the likes of Pino Palladino and the Fabulously Wealthy Tarts.

I actually thought that Paul Young had packed up because of having problems with his throat; seem to remember reading about it quite a long time ago.

Can't help but to think of that D'Acampo twat whenever I hear or see Paul Young's name, especially since his wife died.

He's got a great voice and I've been a fan since the early days of the No Parlez album.

I can even forgive him for 'Toast', just about.

And talking of great singing voices..https://youtu.be/OygsHbM1UCw

Heather poses a good question as well; but I do realize it's early in the day for any meaningful replies as yet x

Yeah, the missus spouts vitriol at the telly whenever D'Acampo is on because of that (he burgled Paul Young's house in his youth for anyone that doesn't know).

He had some major problems with it but has been touring for years with Los Pacaminos - they don't do his music, it's all tex mex. Originally started as a jamming band at Kenny Jones' polo club, Jones was with them for a while, the keyboard player was the guy from the Style Council, Jamie Rose is mega, PY's original guitar playing was with them from the start until his death recently. This is the first major solo tour he has done for quite a while, but has been doing 80s festivals etc, been on tour with Midge Ure - has to keep going as lost a lot of money in some kind of property deal, has young ish kids plus the one his wife had with her boy friend when she left him for a couple of years and then came back.

He begged the record company not to put that out as he knew it would kill the Streetband's careers, and it did!

He's playing our local Festival at the end of month.

I saw him maybe three or four years ago, and his voice was so bad he almost emptied the place. I think it was when he'd just started touring again because of the money issues you refer to, and it may be that he's now over whatever the problem was with his voice.

I'll be there to see him amongst others, so I'll let you know if he's still lost it, or whether he's got it back!

The voice is definitely not what it was, he's had the issues and he is 60 now and it's had a lot of wear and tear- probably in a festival set won't get to do too many songs, but a really nice guy and engages with the audience...and if he sings Wherever I Lay My Hat, you have to know all the words and join in

I think it should be pointed out that he was 21, in case anyone thinks he was just a kid of 13 or 14.
