I have Introducing the Hardline as well, not played it for many years.
Should have had a much longer time in the limelight than he did.

He was never the same after Hughie Green's daughter had her evil way with him, and look what became of Michael Hutchence and one of her daughters died so young.

Saint Bob seems to have got away with being cursed by her though.

Off to see The Specials at Glasgow Barrowlands on Thursday with the missus. Trying to hold my general dislike of being in the same place as lots of other people in check so I can enjoy myself - it's later than you think.

A great band. Love them. Probably helped by the fact that I knew Neville well in my younger days and saw the band several times before they made it.

I hadn't noticed they were touring. I must get tickets.

Ghost Town was a good tune tbf and things not improved much 38 years on

This town (town) is coming like a ghost town
Why must the youth fight against themselves?
Government leaving the youth on the shelf
This place (town) is coming like a ghost town
No job to be found in this country
    Can't go on no more
    The people getting angry

Apparently they are refusing to play ghost town. Quite right too there are loads of great songs to choose from but all you ever hear is ghost town.

I'm hoping for pearl's café myself...

Good point; it was certainly the first one I thought of.

The Specials without Jerry Dammers on the bones, isn't really The Specials, imo........it's the main reason why I've never gone to see the reformed band.

As for their tunes, Rat Race was their best single imo, and off the two albums, It's Up To You (Specials) and Man At C&A (More Specials) probably my two favourites.

    Hope you enjoyed it, simmo.

It's tonight, so I still have it to look forward to.

The missus is the driving force - she's a huge Terry Hall fan - have you noticed the similarity in face structure that he shares with Ryan Gosling? Though like us all, he's getting a bit fat in his old age.

Some of Terry's solo stuff was amongst his best-ever work. 'Home' is an absolutely brilliant album.

    Enjoy tonight then!

Pleased to say it was an excellent gig. Must have lost half a stone in sweat but I could do with that!!

Sadly no pearl's café but they opened with an excellent version of man at c&a.

I was a fan of the two-tone music back in the day, but I was shocked to find out how many of the hits were straight imitations, not even covers, of the original versions made in Jamaica. You'll see what I mean from the examples below, but The Specials did produce some fine material of their own as well.

This was one of the greatest gigs I ever attended, back in the day. My Irish buddies won't have to be reminded what happened at the venue three weeks later.

Judging from your photo you must have been awfully young at the time. If you were a skinhead it can only be because your hair hadn't started growing yet.

Yeah a lot of the earlier 60s ska stuff is also excellent. The skatalites and Desmond Dekker probably the best known.
