    Drones and horseracing

It appears the drone that may not have flown over Gatwick was spotted at Haydock Park Saturday.
A white van (not mine) was spotted parked near racecourse.
Possibility that an in running punter was operating the drone.
    Anyone here involved ?
Will racecourses have regulations in place for big Festivals coming up in a matter of weeks ?
Is it a vegan plot to destroy the few enjoyable things left in life that are still (barely) legal ?

Drones should make for fantastic aerial views of racing

It's a fairly serious point though. A drone getting close to the horses at any racecourse could very easily spook them.

Was it was a dress rehearsal for something else? If some idiot chose to target the Festival or possibly more likely the National it would cause chaos.

That white van has allegedly been seen parked in the same place at previous Haydock meetings

Drones provide amazing footage of racing such as this from the Grand Cross De Corlay last Summer http://www.france-sire.com/actu_webt...e_bretagne.php

Are drones like low sun ie. something that only really effects horses in the UK?

Surely that depends on how close they get Martin.

If there's a drone at a racecourse with some kind of malicious intent rather than for aerial footage from 50 feet above, then surely one swooping a race, or hovering or appearing on front of galloping horses could easily spook them or make them want to shy away from it?

What if someone fly's one at Beecher's from the opposite direction as they approach it for example?!

I'm all for proper use of drones etc, anything that improves the viewing experience but it has to be done within strict rules.

During the summer there I ended up mentally tooled-up for a set-to with some cvnt that was flying a drone over our back garden. I finally found him and the nerdy wee shitebag actually tried to justify his activity by claiming he was flying it 'above the 50 metre threshhold'.

I told him his threshhold was going to be 50 metres up his airse if he didn't bring it back down, pack up and leave. Finally he apologised, packed up and left.

There was an incident involving Frankie Dettori at Newmarket in 2016 that led to drones being banned from racecourses
