Thanks simmo, I'll bear it in mind and may do that if no more entries. I'm another one who doesn't mind one way or the other. We'll play it by ear for now, if we somehow manage 40 players for example we could possibly do eight groups of 5 with 4 matches each. Let's see how many players we have by the 24th.

Sorry MIA for a few days. I'm up for it, but it would seem fairer to draw the line at the first 32 entries.

35 entries so far, so one more and we will have 8 players being drawn out of the hat to play in a qualifying round of 4 matches on Sat 29th Dec, the winners of which will join the other 28 players in the Group Stage starting on Jan 1st 2019 at Cheltenham, if we manage forty entries will run with 8 groups of five and matches will start on Thursday December 27th, the top two going through to the knock out stages.

Entries are now closed and we have 35 players, so we need to reduce this number to 32 for the group stage of the competition which starts at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.

Six players will be drawn at random this evening after racing to play off in three head to head matches at Newbury on Saturday December 29, the remaining 29 players qualify automatically.

Not the best of starts to this season’s competition with two players failing to post selections meaning Desperate Dan and an capall receive walkovers into the Group Stages. I would point out that as well as this thread, all six players were sent PM’s to notify them they had been drawn at random to play today. Still "rules is rules" and we await to see if simmo or Maruco join the other entries in the Group Stage which will be drawn and posted tomorrow morning.

simmo and Maruco tie on 16pts each so under the sudden death penalty shoot out rule it's Maruco who is our final qualifier.
