**** me, what is it with this stable and going for the wrong race. If he ends up in the GC his owners need tarring.

he will run over 3miles at Leop

I remember this with Sizing john a few years back - i had him at 33's for the Ryanair and eventually had to settle for 8's or 12 in the GC

With Monalee his form is well advertised over 3m at this stage - I reckon he could be similar enough to Florida Pearl in that he can just about get 3m+ but it's not his optimum

For those with Ryanair dockets (me) better hope he doesn't make a valiant running at leop in 2 weeks
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

Monalee stayed the 3 miles as well as the other 9 previous G1 winners. Just beaten by a better horse on the day.

Same in the RSA and Albert Bartlett.

Doesn't mean he'll stay the extra 2 furlongs in March but doesn't mean he won't.

The Leop race was a crawl in fairness

He will be seen to his best off a quicker pace being more agressive

Yeah, the jockey had him on a very tight rein at Leop. A faster pace and shorter will be optimal. With Sizing John we simply didn't know whether or not he'd stay the GC trip - in contrast with Monalee we have firm evidence he doesn't. He beat The Storyteller by further in the Flogas than he did in the Savills, a lot further. This can only be put down to the 3 miles stretching him.

Lydia also pointed out the seeming contradiction with Lalor's trainer not wanting to run the horse at Doncaster in prep for the Arkle if the ground is too quick - whereas the excuse for his defeat to Dynamite Dollars at Sandown at Xmas was because of the testing ground. I have no issue with this - she simply doesn't want to risk jarring the horse this close to the Festival.

I think they were on about a trip to Navan too

I really think SJ won't be remembered for as good as he was

3 gold cups in a year. if he had stepped up sooner he could of won a lot more

9/10 for style. 1/10 for content and signs of a growing ego that resents not getting a daily update from the top trainers.
