Starting off with a Timeform piece written by Adam Houghton on Willie's dual purpose horses

Would be interesting if they did a study on performance of weak second favourites vs finishing position.

    The Willie Mullins Thread 2018 / 2019

Joined a syndicate earlier this year with some horses who are to be sent to Willie Mullins in the spring. Horses are currently in pre training only 10 minutes over the road from me. Visited pre training yard today to get the latest and was told by trainer that Willie is shutting his place down for 3 weeks because of a virus he thinks is in the yard. Presume this meant he wasn’t taking in any new horses right now rather than sending out very few runners but something similar to Henderson’s at the moment i’d say in that some are fine, others are not so fine. In saying that Henderson’s had 8 winners & four seconds in the last week.

Could open up the DRF if true.
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

For sure. To put it in perspective Henderson is operating at a 40% strike rate theses past 2 weeks where as Mullins is at half that at 20%. Interesting to see how things develop over the next week or so.

I'd imagine everything is being scoped before they go racing at both yards. It's not always foolproof however, and the strike rates suggest neither yard has a fundamental problem.

Blackbow introduced as 2nd fav for champion bumper with PP. Obviously not going to get the hurdling experience into him.

They would of course have the inside line - wonder will he go straight novice chasing now
