Fair play to Harry Whittington for taking Saint Calvados across, but think it will be a similar result to March with him just setting it up for Footpad

Speaking to Jim Barfry of Supreme Racing yesterday Cadmium may be a 2 mile Chase contender if winning Drinmore Chase , his last chance to win in Novice company. Currently rated 149, if would be a dream come through if he makes the leap to QMCC and Kemboy starts in Gold Cup.
Kemboy a Ladbrokes Gold Cup possible if skipping Clonmel Oik next week

That was as bad a ride as I have ever seen Ruby give a horse. Horse made several dodgy jumps and he waits until the last to challenge.........stupid comes to mind

Wonder did Willie deliberately leave Footpad a few gallons short to justify a step up in trip
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

No chance. It's a long season and the winner went off short in the QM. Today is the day he gets beat.

I tend to agree with Granger. When good horses get beat in the big one trainers tend to get them very fit early the next season and win what they can while the going is good. The New One is a classic example and the The Betfair Chase horse...forgot it's name

So he's deliberately left the best horse in his yard jump like a snooker table?

    Footpad has an overreach.

Amazed Ruby kept going after the first bad mistake looked like the horse wasn’t right. Hope it’s not a season ending injury.

Put another less conspiracy way, leave him short enough that he should win but other days in mind.

Really surprised they didn't go to Navan to be honest

Saint Calvados will win the Tingle Creek and is a decent back to lay for Champion Chase.

Hopefully if fit the loss today will spur them to send Footpad over

Leaving aside today, I find it bizarre they seem to be considering stepping him up in trip. Don't really see much in his profile that would make me believe something like the Gold Cup is a test he wants (and he's by Creachadoir ffs).

Leaving the injury aside, I wouldn't be all that despondent about today either. He was almost certainly short and Saint Calvados is a fair tool when allowed to dictate fractions from the front. As Slim says, doesn't account for Footpad's jumping though...

Would be a bad decision to send him over after an unsatisfactory defeat -the dial a bet offers a good chance to get the wheels back on the wagon against weaker opposition.

Don't know Mullins but my gut feeling tells me Mullins would go with the easier route. He strikes me, looking at it from afar, as a mindful type when it comes to his horses.

I just hope he did not hurt himself.
Shades of Carvill's Hill all those years ago.
Two milers have to have no memory of a bad jump to attack fences the way they do, and the way they have to.
Watch how Footpad twisted himself over the last two fences; never a good sign imo.
Gutted for all concerned but the winner is a real two miler.

He must be a tough bugger too after the race he had in last year's Arkle

If he gets his ground he is a player. Hopefully Altior doesn't suck him in Dec.

    Fortia is **** poor tomorrow

Footpad isn't too bad after yesterday according to WPM. Won't miss his next intended start

Ballyoisin and Great Field will be blitzkrieg if they ever meet.
