None of the big names seem to fussed on Twitter, very serious for me. So close to the festival and some good prize money this weekend. See this going into next week.

Let's hope it's nothing like the foot and mouth fiasco of years ago.

Panic now amongst Twitter. I'll wait for further statements, really isn't looking good though.

Bloody irresponsible of the yard IMO - they would have known they had sick horses and the vets had taken samples, what on Earth were they doing taking anything off the yard before they’d had the results?!

Hopefully the poorly ones are isolated now and being treated properly so it can get back to business as usual very soon.

Only yard I can see had runners at both meetings was Donald McCain unless I'm missing something.

It would have to Ayr on a Weds where G Elliot has a lorriload of runners. This means a soft border and we are unprotteced by the Irish Sea?

This is disastrous. Can’t see racing going ahead this weekend.

That's the only yard I could see at both also and assumed the same.

Some saying the festival could be in doubt and comparing it to the Australia outbreak.

The Australian episode was much worse. This needs to be nipped in the bud, horses exposed isolated and tested. Then there’s real hope. I’m surprised Thurles is on today.

Why not? We didn't vote for flu!

    Best case scenario

Horses from the affected yard that ran at Ayr and Ludlow test negative, no cases arise elsewhere and racing resumes in about a week

    Worst case scenario

We lose Cheltenham, Aintree, Fairyhouse Punchestown festivals and the early flat season classics and beyond.

There's also the likelihood of preparations for these to be interrupted somewhat, one example would be that a horse needs to have run in a chase this season to qualify for the GN, that opportunity could be denied them.

Elliott has decided to leave his runners in quarantine in Ayr rather than take them back to Ireland. Great decision.

Good man Elliott. Now lets hope Davy Russell & any staff at Ayr yesterday had the nailbrush, tooth brush & toilet brush out scrubbing in the showers. Humans can as easily pass this on as horses & Russell rides at Thurles.

Elliott's horses came back and are held up in a yard 15 miles from his and have been tested.

What about John Carr and Ronan McNally's ? Both have runners declared for Thurles today.

    Crazy racing going ahead.

Least of my worries right now DG. But, if it is the worst case scenario, what would happen with AP bets? Would they be losers? We can only all pray this has been dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Yes, sorry for incorrect post (although I'm sure that's how the RP initially had it reported). Still, there are no other horses at that yard apparently.
