Yes, virtually every other horse has tightened up what with Vinndication being pulled as well. Santini supposedly worked well yesterday so wonder if all not well this morning.

It wouldn't be Cheltenham if there wasn't a Henderson horse drifting the week before

    NH just released a statement

Santini lost a shoe yesterday and our vet poulticed it as a precautionary measure. I have been away from the yard today but have spoken to my staff and they report him fine and we see no reason why he won’t run in the RSA. Should that change, I will update accordingly.

Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

Could the predicted going be a factor in him drifting, shoe aside?

He should be tubbing (standing in tub of warm water plus handful of ES) it in Epsom salts for a least twenty minutes twice a day. I've had countless horses go lame having pulled a shoe off and it is one of the best treatments to use (as well as poulticing). People forget to use some of the old fashioned methods but they still work. Actually I use same treatment on myself after a days standing/shopping/racing when your feet are completely knackered!

It's ok. He regularly reads this forum so I know he's currently sitting there personally tubbing the offending foot! After all, he's done as I suggested with Might Bite........

    Santini still has problems

WITH regards to Santini, everybody saw the video I posted on my twitter on Wednesday and after two very good days we thought everything was fine and we were through it but unfortunately he wasn’t as good this morning and the issue has reared its ugly again so we’ve had to remove the shoe and put a poultice back on his foot. It is 100% the foot, and absolutely nothing else, but because we’ve had to continue riding him it’s obviously jigged it up again which has not helped. It’s a very common issue and in any normal circumstance, you’d give them a few days off to allow the foot to heal and then carry on, but because we are in a race against time with four/five days to go we’ve had to crack on which has lead us back here. I think we are better than going back to square one and I’m hoping the poultice does its job as I really did think we’d seen the end of the problem but we obviously haven’t. The team are doing their very best and I am still hopeful that we will get there in time. Any further updates will follow.

A decision on Santini will not be made until tomorrow morning according to Nicky Henderson: "He's doing well and has been out and cantered this morning. He's done everything we wanted but we won't be making a final decision until tomorrow morning."
