    In just that little example there's not enough numbers to give me a clue wtf they are meant to represent?

    If that book is how they actually rate horses pounds for points it belongs in the dustbin...That is a question rather than a criticism

    Because if it were and they are saying L'ami Serge is within 4lbs of Buveur D'Air they are stone mad
    L'Ami Serge's rating is derived from races run over 3m.

    If you don't understand it, it's probably best not to comment at all, rather than use terms like "it belongs in the bin". Such attitudes would surely have robbed us of the Philisophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica.
