Don't know the numbers but I'm supremely confident that my losing run would be longer than my winning one.

Any particular reason for the question, Fist. Are they all being beat in a photo or are they all sluicing-up like gigolo's?
Ah! but a man's reach should exceed his grasp......

20 straight losers a couple of time. The last jumps season, from Punchestown in April right through to the Bristol winning the Charlie Hall. And in 2003 from Warrsan winning the Coronation Cup through to Alamshar winning the King George.

Couple of times I've had 4 consecutive winners and one of them actually reflected badly on me - In 1997 I had Danetime in the Stewards Cup, Decorated Hero in the Hungerford, Singspiel in the Juddmonte and Royal Applause in the Haydock Sprint Cup. That's four straight winners over a period of five weeks. I had difficulty pulling the trigger in those days. Terrible.

The reason I ask I wonder do people continue to bet the same way they have for years or sometimes do they lay back place only....

I messed about with an idea a while back and have been meaning to experiment on place laying place Backing and laying so I started yesterday with a small pot 40 pounds

My idea is to turn 5 quid into 8 to 10 quid then go back to betting 5 quid

Got off to an absolute flyer yesterday

    5 1.21 1.05 0.07 0.98 40.98

    2.00 1.48 0.96 0.07 0.89 53.41
    3.41 5.2 0.81 0.05 0.76 54.17
    2.52 1.5 1.26 0.10 1.16 55.33

    2.58 1.345 0.89 0.06 0.83 58.82

Only 1 losing bet but just had 8 quid on that useless odds on shot in the first

If I win again today I will post if I don't then ya know I fooked up

Breeders Cup night 2009 -I was heading out the door to get a takeaway for myself and the wife -I noticed someone was looking to have €150 on a horse of de Bromheads in a sprint at Dundalk at betfair sp -he was also 40/1 on the tote.Withnail was the name of the horse -he never looked like winning anywhere bar the winning post.Later that night Mastercraftsman was ridiculously short in the place market for the breeders cup dirt mile -I laid it heavily -it should have hacked up but under an injudicious Johnny Murtagh ride was unplaced. For the next 8 months I punted flat out and by the start of June I was up €27K.
That was my high water mark as a punter -have gone steadily into decline since then.

    Just my luck...
went through Goodwood card late last night for League Of Neightions competition and selected the following
    1.50 Alfarris
    3.00 Sir Dancealot
    3.35 torcedor
    5.15 Move Swiftly
    only to see competition abandoned.
This is not after timing as i had no bet.
Would usually have a little lucky 15/yankee just in case
With no comp I felt there was no need to......
i sure hope my early morning call farmer client pays me after that !

My current losing run started when I had two bob ew on Ubedizzy at Newmarket in the mid 1970s. He spent the race trying to eat his opponents rather than winning the damn thing. Reminded me of Peter Storey.
"And still they gazed and still the wonder grew. That one small head could carry all he knew.

And that small head knew that Impaire Et Passe would win the Champion Hurdle."

Terrible lack of keeping any solid records. Wasn't the longest losing run I've had that would have been as I've a few very long ones. One significant run for me though was a run of near misses. For a very long time my biggest win was 4k and I'd had a few between the 2-4k mark but if ever I needed one for more it would duck. I needed Medermit to win the Ryan Air for over 10k when he jumped the last in front I needed Sunnyhill Boy for more in the Nash (via a large (for me) antepost single and needing him for the anchor leg of a treble when he got nutted on the Jamstick. Between that years festival and the Derby, 6 times i waited on one horse to bring me that elusive 5 figure win on the anchor leg of multiples 5 seconds and 1 third. So that was 6 times in 3 months and had twice gone close for similar amounts in the 6 months previous. On Derby day, the last of those occasions I missed out on 23k by a nose and a short bloody nose at that and that was the end of a run that completely did for me I didn't bet again for nearly 2 years. When you start seeing replays of the finishes in your sleep you know the game has pushed you too far haha.

    Interesting trial Tanlic.

    Hope you're all well.

Today I backed Ventura Magic to be 1st or 2nd...he was booked for 3rd until the rank outsider fell at the last.
