New sponsor for CGC and "presenting partner" for The Festival

So many sponsorship changes in that race
It ultimately doesn't matter I suppose
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done
At least it's something that you can drink from the Cup (if you're desperate).
All these races should follow the naming convention, 'The Cheltenham Gold Cup (sponsored by xxxxxx)' rather than 'The xxxxxx Cheltenham Gold Cup'.
The older I get the better I was.
For anyone who looks at the Sporting Life website, there's a short survey here, all who take it are entered in to a draw for tickets for the Sunday of The Open meeting in November

Week booked off for it today

Are you coming over PJ?
I think you should. There are plenty here that you know that will be there for all four days. Come and join us, there's no way you'd regret it.
granger (7th September 2018)
Seconded; but once you go you are on a life sentence for that few days each year.
I have been to 6 festivals - I havent been since 2013 on memory

Lucky 7 this season then PJ!
Fagan has been moved from Gordon Elliott's yard to Alex Hales and will be aimed at the Foxhunters at The Festival.

Clerk of the Course, Simon Claisse updates: "Watering continues to maintain the ground at Good to Firm with three weeks to go. Our aim is to provide Good ground for the start of the season on the 26th October."
Cue the p*ss takers

We're clearly not going to get the same value on Mullins/Elliott/Henderson Festival winners this season (odds on for 15!) so how about looking at this?
Backing every Mullins and Elliott horse in the 5 handicap hurdles last Festival gave a profit of £490 to a £10 stake at SP. 2017 gave a £140 profit and 2016 a £60 loss. If you go with a bookie who gives free cash out or wait until it's NRNB, I'd have thought that you could do better than SP.
Just thinking out loud here. What do the pros think?

Remains to be seen whether this will have any effect, the walk from the members car park to the Centaur entrance usually involves touts "discreetly" going about their business, the police don't usually want to know if touts are pointed out unless they visibly see a transaction taking place. Expect New Barn Lane, Evesham Road and the road down to Swindon Village will have a few more touts now as off racecourse land.
Aftertimer alert !!
Backed Diakali there and think I'll go and do the lottery now. Hard to think of a more fortuitous winner.
Alcohol, because no good story ever started with "I was eating this salad..."
