    RIP Ray H

Just had a shock to hear that RayH, a long time companion of mine at Cheltenham races, passed away a few days ago. Ray was primarily a moderator on the old Final Furlong forum but was an occasional member on here and always took part in the inter forum competitions on here. There are a few ex FF members on here who might not have heard although a few have posted condolences on the (very quiet) forum that Ted runs.

    RIP Ray

Oh such sad news. He was the most lovely gentle man you could meet. He was one of the syndicate who leased Tajjree from me for her racing career and always came to every race and yard visit. I always used to make the effort to go and see him on the steps at Cheltenham in his usual spot by the paddock. He will be much missed and my condolences to Steve, his son and family.

Very sad news, as Jinny says above, a true gentleman, very kind and generous.

Condolences to his family, especially Steve who is following in his father's footsteps - another gentleman.

There is no Final Furlong any more, just a board where three of us post our 4PP selections, so I would like to add my thoughts on here.
When I set up The Final Furlong back in 1998, Ray was one of the first people to sign up, he stayed with it right up until the time we finally realised it was time to call it a day, and he also helped fund it.
I met Ray and his son Steve many times, mainly at one of our arranged nights at the dogs, but also at various horse race meetings, which he had usually encouraged me to attend.
He was without a doubt, one of the nicest men I have ever met.
Ray, Steve and Hilary all made the effort to travel from Bristol down to London for my 50th birthday party, and along with two other great friends from FF in Crazyjoe and Trig, helped make it a great night.
Ray, Steve, Crazyjoe and myself had one final meet up at Swindon dogs about 18 months ago, and after that we continued to chat on Facebook.
Ray told me in December that his computer had packed up, and that he would be back in touch when it was fixed, but in the months that followed he was uncharacteristically quiet.
I was beginning to get concerned when I had heard nothing from him for a while, and a few weeks ago, the phone rang, it was Steve, and I just knew what he was going to say.
R.I.P. Ray, it was a pleasure knowing you.

Ted, why don't you and the other lads move over here full time?
