Alcohol, because no good story ever started with "I was eating this salad..."
So what happened to September?
Sounded on TV this morning like she's not running?
I've been away on holiday but checking the RP daily online for updates. I don't recall seeing anything about her.

Think they said setback earlier in year will be seen Autumn time
Desert Orchid (26th May 2018)
Thanks, SPO. She was in the betting at about 8/1 the last time I looked a couple of weeks ago. If the setback was earlier in the season they haven't been too forthcoming with the information.

365 are going 7s NRNB about Sea of Class which is well worth taking.
Sea of Class misses the race. Assume forecast ground to blame?
Magical out too

Haggas never really seemed keen on running her. The ground just gave him the final push.
She does look smart but whether she wants a stamina test over 12 I'm not sure.
All comers, all grounds, all beaten!
This perfect mix of poetry and destruction.
Looks a really substandard race.
(And there have been some pretty substandard ones!)

I think the winner is probably decent but you have to wonder - at least I do - what kind of race it could have been with Lah Ti Dar, Clemmie, Happily and September in it.
The talking horse Perfect Clarity was well beaten but her OR was only 100 and the favourite, Wild Illusion, was only rated 113 and she was top rated!

Lah ti Dah would have destroyed that field.
Disappointing race in more than one way.
ROLL ON THE RESISTANCE !!!
Did the best filly win the race ?
Wild Illusion was the best filly in that race, but the O'Brien mob ran the finish out of her.
Ergo she wasn't the best filly in the race, surely. If she was the best they wouldn't been able to run the finish out of her. She's probably even run better than ever before. She was the best filly - on all ratings - going into the race and has probably run her race. Even Appleby said as much afterwards. But the winner has simply improved past her.
But I still suspect it was a ****-poor race apart from the winner.

She's a 10f filly. Hawk Wing was the best horse in High Chap's Derby, just not at 12f.
She's bred for the Gold Cup, I'd say. I'll be surprised if she proves any better than yesterday at shorter trips and she'll probably find plenty better than her at longer trips.
I'll be happy to be proved wrong, though. It's always good to see horses running at their best at their best trips.
