I backed Starchitect here last month and thought he travelled well within himself. Rightly or wrongly I was pretty confident as he jumped the last which he got all wrong. Imo he was in good shape and the one to take from that race, have taken 8's as well as including in doubles and trebles with Ron's Dream today and Singlefarmpayment next week. Although top weight, Ron's Dream- with the bonus of the excellent younger Bowen's allowance -is on a mark that gives her more than a fighting chance. This may not be the day but she did me a big favour 2 years back at a decent price. Ground will suit.
Not to be too greedy but a thumping victory for the Spurs this evening together with the aforementioned would definitely put me in the mood for what will necessarily be an alcohol free Christmas.

I haven't had much of a look at the race myself Marble I've included Guitar Pete in a speculative e/w double at 33's for the craic, if he lines up on better ground then he's probably a 12's poke. In all honesty though on better ground even though Foxtail Hill beat Le prezien over 2 mile here I have a suspicion that the latter will turn out to be grade 1 material at this kind of trip and as such would stand a decent chance in this. I'll probably have a good look at this race on Monday so hopefully I can post some more detailed thoughts then.
Well done Danny with Guitar Pete - such a shame about Starchitect

From leaping about like a looney to absolutely pigsick in seconds. Seriously questioning further involvement in the game!

    Ditto.

Not a nice way to get a result.

Desperately sad to see. He will be so missed in the yard and they always maintained he had a big Cheltenham win in him.

I assume it was the same shot being used by ITV Racing because it was noticeable on there how on the ball the cameraman was.

I've probably been barking up the wrong tree with Foxtail.

There's something that may be running on the 23rd that I fancy a lot more!

I thought he was in trouble after an early mistake and was never going to win -last season he fell apart after Christmas which makes me want to avoid him for the rest of this season. He might be a long range ante post bet for next years Hennessy at Newbury.

Trying not to sound morbid but a genuine question as I'm not close to horses and their care - what actually happened with Starchitect ? Just a statement that the horse broke down - what does that mean heart, spleen, leg breaks .... & how did it happen ?

I've seen 2 unfortunate cases on the flat as a speccy where horses have had leg dangling while instinctively running on 3 to the finish line or more than likely the stables beyond. Both were glossed over as accidents - sickening and heart wrenching to watch though.

Appeared to break a leg running between two-out and the last.......happened right in front of the stands at full gallop........was a dreadful sight.

    Aye.

FWIW, Yala Enki is the one I've highlighted for a plunge next Saturday in the chase at Ascot. I reckon 14/1 is a knocking each way price.

Recorded the racing because I was working all weekend. Just caught up with it today, wish I didn't. Poor bloody horse.

That's arguably worse than the one that fell behind VVM in th Mares race a couple of years ago. That was bloody awful to watch as well.

Not the first time the Pipes have lost a horse in the vicinity of that path across the course

Not quite a plunge but backed Yala Enki today with Hills.

Soft or heavy ground would be a major bonus, in fact he probably needs this just to be declared.

He's only just about to turn 8 years of age and has proved worth his salt since going to Venetia Williams yard from France.

There's no particular angle for Saturday, other than he's won round Ascot before and has a pretty sound each way chance.

He's caught my eye, although I just can't pick my nose at present, so if he does go close, I'll put this down to guess work, rather than any form angle!
