The reason you are being offered 20's+ is Colin Tizzard has absolutely no intentions of running Native River.

Without looking you may well think the King George is the more valuable race but it is not. The prize money is exactly the same.

There is a possibility both Thistlecrack and Douvan could turn up at Kempton there's no chance of that at Haydock and there is that mil to consider

Against that on his first race last season Might Bite was beaten fair and square at 1/2 and that is probably what is worrying NJH and pointing him towards an easier target

Sizing John looks the safest bet and 3/1 could look huge on the day.

Might Bite’s opener last season was over a trip that proved to be wholly-inadequate, as well as being his first outing over fences, and I’m not convinced that his defeat was entirely down to fitness alone (though it’s possible, I suppose).

i’d appreciate it if you could confirm the source of your information, regarding Tizzard and his having ‘absolutely no intention’ of running Native River in the Betfair.

I’m not saying you’re full of it (though it has been known! ), but I can find nothing which suggests a confirmed alternative target or starting-point. In the same slot in the calendar, the only viable alternatives for Native River, are the JN Wines and the Hennessy. There are valid reasons as to why Haydock would be a better alternative to either of those races (no travel/no weight concession), so just interested to know what makes it so unequivocal that he won’t run?

It's probably not all that different test to the Denman Chase at Newbury, Euro, albeit it's a slightly sharper track.

Plus, the ground is routinely soft at the meeting - should be a decent enough test for any of the top stayers.

I saw a Tizzard quote somewhere early in the Summer that Native River would be having a later campaign this season and wouldn't be seen before Christmas

Nicky will cotton wool Might Bite so

Just one reason that I'd prefer to see a good horse with PFN

Noted on Native River - thanks. First Jumps ante-post bet of the season bollocksed already!

Not sure about that, granger. He did say he definitely* wants a prep into The Biter before Kempton.

    * Mind you, it is Henderson we're talking about.

Since when does he do that?

Sprinter won the Tingle Creek, The Victor Chandler, The QMCC, The Melling over 2m4f and then took in the Irish Champion Chase for good measure.
Buveur Dair 5 Altior 6 and Might Bite ran 6 times..I think he runs them the right amount of times looking at the races won

Nicky H certainly didn't think so, after Bobs Worth was near tailed off there.
Chalk & cheese, grassy, unless you're trying to justify a selection on the strength of it.

Given I‘ve already publicly written-off the bet, reet, I’d hardly be looking to talk bollocks attempting to justify it, would I?

The question was about stamina, and with both tracks being left-handed, galloping, with a long run-in, there are clearly at least some similarities. I’ve already pointed-out the sharper nature of Haydock, but never claimed that they ride identically anyway - only that the test was “probably not all that different” in the context of a stamina requirement.

On that basis, there’s really no need for me to make any defence of the statement, and no real need for you to concern yourself with such piffle-paffle. I’d much rather you gave me a reason not to have a bet on the German horse in the Arc, to be honest with you.

Oh my a mention of a bet in the Arc on the Gold Cup thread.
    Are you going rogue?
Has the lure of the dark side proven too much to resist?
Poor Granger, what if he falls into an irreversible coma after seeing this?

    So many questions.......

The Arc and the Cesarewich are the two Flat races I have a bet in, brendanr......which should be old news by now.

I only mentioned it as a polite way of avoiding telling reet to go hoist himself, but it seems to have back-fired. There’s no winning sometimes.

I had to do a doubletake but sometimes the poisoning needs to be front and centre

Proper racing. Jockeys time after time giving decent horses huge leads then leaving thing a mile late

80% of those riding with absolutely no clock in their heads.

If it's wearing all blue, a blue and white striped cap or a sash with a pink cap make it fav despite the fact it's useless

Jockey giving up before the winning post and lost 3rd or 4th when punters have their hard earned cash on place betting...........stewards saying nothing.

I honestly think they are a bunch of over rated over paid baboons on the flat. and cannie wait to see the back of them.......rather have Hexam than Epsom amy day of the week

They'll be scuttling to their caves the minute the Arc is done - only to re-emerge under the cover of darkness, for a weekend of fretting about the Breeders Cup, before disappearing again.

    Great time of the year.

Yeah, Champions Day is one of the highlights of the year. Jumping mode for me doesn't begin until it's over.
