He has a lot to live up to when you consider who he is following and along way to go. Some greats rode for Nicky's dad Gordon at Greystoke like Stan Mellor, Ron Barry, Jonjo, David Goulding, Richard Dunwoody, Brian Harding and of course National heroes Neil Doughty and Bob Davies........That said Niclky Richards is a first class judge of a rider and the boy wouldn't be there is he wasn't a bit special..he uses Ryan Day who is also very good and Brian Hughes one of the best in the country rides regular for Nicky as you know

The second is Jack Tudor who arrived on the scene last season and rode 5 winners. He's still retained his amateur status so he can keep riding in points this season. I was speaking to a press colleague at Stratford a couple of weeks ago and he feels Jack could be even better than James Bowen - we shall see! But he did get the better of champion jockey Will Biddick at Bratton Down last season in a match race refusing to be intimidated by the occasion - he's only 16.

Both Jack and Connor are good friends and did plenty of pony racing. And what's interesting is that all three are Welsh (they must be putting something in the water across the border!) Both are down to ride at Cheltenham tomorrow.
Taken a little while but Connor looked pretty decent on Verdana Blue today.

Yes, I had a closer look at VB because of the jockey's mention on here but let the price put me off. Probably wouldn't have needed it the way the mare won.

I hope you are all taking note of these jockeys I spot! Jack Tudor fulfilling his promise with a cracking win in the Welsh National.

I thought seriously about it this morning because of the jockey but ultimately opted for Now McGinty as the main bet. Winner's allowance arguably made all the difference.

Another jockey to come from the Pointing field is Millie Wonnacott who just turned professional this week and rode her first winner tonight as a conditional at Perth. I flagged her up as my jockey to follow from the 18/19 season (obviously last season was rather short!) so I am so pleased to see her start so well.

Didn't she win a nice race at Kempton during the NH season? I remember being very impressed with the ride on the day. The best compliment I can pay her is that I had no idea she was either female or conditional, just rode like a top jockey.

Yes on Fingerontheswitch. Likewise I thought it was a tremendous ride easily winning what had looked a competitive handicap

    (Apologies if posted elsewhere).
I didn’t see the bumper yesterday at Chepstow but from what I gather James Bowen’s right rein snapped with a whole circuit to go but he still managed to win on the horse despite it trying to veer through a wing at one stage

Amazing ride as it went virtually as they started, and he rode a finish on it as well!

They team up tomorrow in the big hcap chase.

I missed the 20/1 yesterday after the final decs were made and decided to hold. I might have to settle for about 12/1 but I just hope the money dries up and the bookies offer a couple of extra points in the morning.

I know you’re all busy dissecting Cheltenham form, but I thought I would flag up my latest “one to watch”

Freddie Gingell. I know a couple of you may have spotted him riding when he won a Hunter Chase recently. Grandson of Colin Tizzard, Freddie was a brilliant Pony Racing jockey and has really hit the ground running in his first season Pointing. He rode a double today and I understand he will be riding as a conditional next season, not for his grandfather, but for Paul Nicholls.

Freddie Gingell rides at Wincanton today in an Amateur hurdle (2.10) against Olive Nicholls (Paul’s next daughter). They have clashed a few times Pointing this season - Guy Landaus daughter Molly is also riding. I will probably take James King though to beat the lot of them as he’s got far more experience and is a good pilot!
