Pluralism of Ideas and the prosperity of any land are intertwined. Freedom of minds and skill of intellect to 'think the unthinkable' is how humanity has progressed; when minds are incarcerated nothing endures.
Latest on RP
CHAMPION jockey Jim Crowley and Freddy Tylicki were taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries following a four-horse pile-up at Kempton on Monday.
Following a delay of over an hour, stewards consulted with the jockeys at the track and the decision was taken to abandon the rest of the meeting.
Steve Drowne and Ted Durcan also came down in the incident, which happened on the turn into the home straight in the 3.20.
Crowley and Tylicki were both taken to the major trauma unit at St George's Hospital in Tooting, with Tylicki transported by air ambulance, whereas Crowley was taken by road ambulance.
Clerk of the course Barney Clifford said: "Both jockeys have gone to St George's in Tooting for further investigation. Freddy Tylicki was airlifted and Jim Crowley has gone by road ambulance.
"Both are on spinal boards and both gave their consent to me and the doctor to update their next of kin family members. I can't say anymore than that at this stage."
Drowne and Durcan were able to walk back to the weighing room. The four horses involved were reported to be on their feet following the incident.
Clifford said: "I touched base with Steve Drowne and he was fine. Ted Durcan was quite shaken. I just hope and pray that both Freddy and Jim are okay."
Racing abandoned
On the decision to call off the rest of the meeting, Clifford added: "Having discussed it with the jockeys and the stewards the unanimous decision, as a mark of respect to the two lads that had been injured, was that we abandon racing."
Tylicki was aboard Nellie Deen in second, and exiting the bend into the home straight, when it appeared his mount clipped heels with leader and eventual winner Madame Butterfly.
Nellie Deen in turn brought down Electrify [Crowley], Skara Mae [Drowne] and Sovrano Dolce [Durcan].
Both of them are at the top of their game-fingers crossed.
I've not seen the incident and I've no particular wish to. I sincerely hope these lads are okay. As EC says, they put themselves in harm's way every day, whether on the flat or over jumps, and a potential career-ending injury (or worse) is only ever a stride away.

I didn't see it..was listening on the radio Gus..i don't want to watch it as all the pundits on there said it were horrible.
lets all just hope for a full recovery for both of them
a poster on the other forum has said
i've been watching horse racing for a very long time. and thats the worst accident i've ever seen
and he wasn't alone with those sentiments
They say no news is good news but I have to say that the total absence of any news at all is seriously worrying.
They were reporting possible spinal injuries but you don't know if they're just guessing or that's an official line.
I've read that Crowley has a broken nose but Tylicki is in a worse state. He went via air ambulance too.
Some people had reposted the video on Twitter. I'd not seen any news all day and then saw that video, horrendous fall on the bend.
Would that surface have been a softer sort of landing than turf? I think 4 jockeys fell, 2 got badly hurt and one looked to get bowled over and trampled.
Hope both can make a full recovery, fingers crossed.
Jim Crowley back home [thank goodness]. Thoughts are now with Tylicki.

Great news about Crowley, fingers and everything else still crossed for Tylicki.
Just seen on Twitter Freddy 'awake and chatty' before having scans....

Fingers crossed for a full recovery. I didn't see it either. I don't miss much racing on TV but I have to say I'm glad I was out yesterday for this.
