Slim - I think I have one for you for a MOTM RICK today.
I was reading twitter this morning and oddschecker had a tweet saying most popular bet this morning was Kompany MOTM @ 20/1.
I thought this was massive. When I went on to check, none of the main bookies had it priced up yet. Only bwin, Unibet, Sporting Life & YouWin had betting - none of which I have an account with.
The price has since collapsed and BET365 have just priced it up and Kompany is 7/2 third fav behind Hazard & Lukaku.
However, right now, Kompany is still a massive 16/1 with Sporting Bet. I've opened an account and had €20 matched at 16/1.
I fully appreciate Hazard or Lukaku are more likely to win it, but in what is effectively a 3 horse race, the price was way too big on Kompany to pass. Especially if the game were to remain tight for a long time, it would greatly increase Kompany's chances. (Similarly to how Mikel from Nigeria won the MOTM last night).
Your account will now be closed.
I'm bored of this. I'm going for a Twix.
Something tells me to back Algeria on the Asians today. I have no idea about Russia versus South Korea. I think both teams have been under-rated going into this tournament. But Shirokov's injury and the Korean's form has curbed my enthusiasm somewhat. Capello's teams don't usually concede goals as a rule, so I might back SK not to score or something (price dependent).
Welsh and Proud.
I don't know, I think Belgium could hockey them.
It's funny, African football seems to have gone backwards a little since 8/10 years ago - Nigeria won the last ACN!
Basically we're all jostling in the dark in this tournament. Well I am, anyway.
Half the fun, I guess.
Welsh and Proud.
Except we are sure Brazil and Argies won't win.
Please agree to give me reassurance. Thank you.
I won't write any team off after just one game.
Apart from Honduras.
Welsh and Proud.
But I think Brazil are more likely to win than Argentina.
Welsh and Proud.
Depends on what you mean by 'Write Off'.....?
If you mean without hope of getting even 1 more point going forward, then maybe, yes, Honduras are out there on their own....
But if you mean You won't write off any team yet in terms of qualifying from the group stages - then I think there are a few you could easily write off already...............
Australia
Cameroon
Japan & Greece IMO
Ghana
On the back of that opinion that Greece & Japan are both awful, I think 9/4 Ivory Coast to win Group C is a great price.
Columbia were decent, but not brilliant. Even a draw with Columbia would give Ivory Coast the advantage in the group. They would be ahead of Columbia on Goals scored, Goal difference... Hence 9/4 is a good bet imo.
I think Fellaini and Mertens will score in a 2-1 Belgian win.
Belgium's lack of width is startling, and they're relying on inspiration from their attacking midfielders, which is difficult against a good defence like Algeria's.
Belgium have a good crop of players alright, but they all operate in the spine of the team. How they could do with genuine pace out wide.

It doesn't help that they're playing negative pricks who lucked out getting a penalty.
I know! Brilliant header.
I feel stupid now.
Why now especially?
Ah! but a man's reach should exceed his grasp......
The boy Fellaini looks a player
De Bruyne wins Man of the Match ................
I guess it was a 4 horse race. De Bruyne was next in the betting after Kompany @ 6/1 ish I think.
I have a nagging feeling against Russia later. I just don't fancy them!
I'm Backing the draw here @ 11/4 and Doubling it with a draw in the Brazil Game @ 4/1 for a bit of value.
I think Mexico have the potential to frustrate Brazil, who weren't great the last day and are always liable to concede one. Fancy a 1-1 draw.
