    Round of 16

    Brazil - Chile
Chile were my dark horse to get to the semis and I was disappointed they didn't/couldn't beat the Netherlands. Brazil to make home advantage count.

    Colombia - Uruguay
FIFA rankings would give this to Uruguay but Colombia have been impressive and Uruguay not. Without Suarez I'm expecting Uruguay to circle the wagons and commission Midland Red to park an entire fleet of buses outside that. Pray for an early goal for Colombia.

    France - Nigeria
I still have questions about the French temperament whereas Nigeria have looked quite resilient. France should win but one of the likelier upsets.

    Germany - Algeria
    Germany win.

    Netherlands - Mexico
I still see the Dutch as RVP, Robben & 9 others. Robben can win the game on his own but Mexico have defended well. Having come into the tournament seemingly out of form, they seem to be back to how they were for the Olympics and I make them slight favourites.

    Costa Rica - Greece
CR have surprised most people whereas Greece have justified their ranking without anyone liking their style of play. Greece to win a forgetable match.

    Argentina - Switzerland
Even without the Manaus factor you have to fancy Messi plus any other ten to go through.

    Belgium - USA
Too close to call with any confidence. Backing with someone else's money I'd go with the USA.
The older I get the better I was.

I really, really want to take Brazil on but have the memory of Chile v Netherlands than Chile v Spain. Maybe I should re-watch the latter game. 6.6 is a fair price. Though maybe a lay of Brazil the best option.

I think France will win comfortably enough.

Agree about the Dutch and would like to see them go out..

I would take Costa Rica over Greece..

I hope the bookies think along the same lines regarding the USA and lengthen Belgium, I would like like the US to win but I think their style will suit Belgium, bit of a grinder of a game but Belgium with to much savvy and Hazard the danger man 1-0 or 2-0, probably back Hazard to score anytime.

I fancy France strongly and the Dutch superior fire power to see them through also think Algeria will cause Germany problems they have plenty of runners in their team and dangerous at set pieces, it will be close but I expect the Germans will prevail in the end.

From now on I think I'll probably stick to 'qualifying for the next round' prices. In that market, Mexico at 13/8 and USA at 2/1 look big to me.
I've already backed Brazil and Argentina to win the tournament outright with money back if they get knocked out on penalties. Seems a sensible precaution whoever you fancy.

    Round of 16

Alexis Sanchez to score 1st against Brazil looks decent value at 10/1 with Power. To score at any time 17/5 with 888sport not a bad bet either IMO

The Power price looks even better as they're refunding losing bets if the match goes to penalties. Lads go 9/1 and refund up to £25 if Brazil win in 90 min

Columbia at evens tonight is surely a bet! Uruguay in the first game without Suarez were pathetic, against England despite a better team performance a half fit Suarez got them through. Columbia were impressive in all there group games and James Rodriquez is playing brilliantly. Uruguay will sit back and try to hit on the counter but they don't have the class up front to punish the chance or 2 they might create.

I've gone for a couple of odds-against shots to go through.

Chile looked to me to be saving themselves the other night and I expect to see that impressive team & national spirit much more in evidence this evening. I think the 100/30 to qualify looks massive against a Brazil team that are not that impressive so far (might step up a gear as of this evening, mind).

Mexico at 6/4 to go through at Holland's expense isn't over-big but Mexico can be very stuffy and Holland may have been flattered by their wins against Spain (didn't turn up) and Chile (saving a bit for themselves). I think 6/4 in the three-outcome market would have been about right.

    The double pays almost 10/1.

I am on Chile to win in 90 mins, Chile to qualify and Chile +1 in the Asian handicap market. I think Brazil will probably go through and am a little worried about Fernandinho back (Paulinho the worst 'top midfielder' I've seen in a while) but think if Chile play to their best they could go really, really close. The prices are a little wrong, imho.

He should have (technically) got a red card for what he did after the half time whistle. What a non.

Great game, if it's still 1-1 after 65 minutes, Chile will have a great, great chance. I feel all they need to do is stay in the game as Brazil's emotions and pressing will wear themselves out..

If they score though they won't tire..

Fred is outrageous alright, with the alternative being Jo they may as well play another midfielder - watch Fred score a winning header now I would love Chile to win this though.

Why Barcelona are selling Sanchez is a mystery, if Liverpool get him then that is a great signing.

Don't know. I thought it was disallowed as it was such a sh*t attempt at a shot?

Chile should really go for this as they are on top and Brazil unsure of themselves and tiring.. waiting would be a mistake.

I'm having very mixed feelings about this!

I've supported Brazil all my life but having money on Chile is giving me a new perspective on it!

This can go either way yet. Chile are the more 'together' but Brazil still look dangerous on the break.

    Another 30 mins to 'enjoy'...

Dreadful stuff on radio and tv

    Along the lines of

"It was handball but I don't know how he gave that!"

Perhaps he was doing his fcking job?

"FIFA won't like it brazil go out!"

    So fcking what

Lineker said something like 'it's obvious who we are all going for' - I don't understand this - fair enough if Brazil is all of their favourite team, but they are underwhelming, underperforming, against a fantastic team, overperforming, high energy and who has Alexis!

Of course it's the best chance to win my bet but am I the only one who would love to see penalties?
