Was so hoping that he would pull through
RIP Red
Has a horse of his ability ever been better campaigned?
He won just £1500 short of £5m in lifetime earnings, an extraordinary amount and took his connections all over the world. 'Only' £869k of his winnings came from races he actually won, and £710k of that came from one race, the Hong Kong Vase in December 2012. He hasn't won a race since, but he continued adding to his huge pile of place money, which came to more than £4m in the end. He was very durable, running in 54 races, more than 20 of them Gr1s.
At 9 years old he was on the decline perhaps and coming close to the end of his career but what a career it was and he was a credit to all who had anything to do with him.
Gutted - but astounded that the RP HAVENT posted anything about it on their site?!
Yes, what a career he had and will be long remembered here and all over the world. RIP
Sad news indeed. RIP Red.
All comers, all grounds, all beaten!
This perfect mix of poetry and destruction.
Blue Heron out for the season
Former Champion Hurdle winner Rock on Ruby has been retired after suffering a tendon injury following his win at Ascot on Saturday!
12 wins, 8 seconds, 5 thirds from 27 starts. Oh to own a horse like that.
And ends his career with a win! Lovely horse and fondly remembered, by me, for winning a CH at 10/1 in 2012. I'd followed him all season that season, and he did well to serve it up to the Fly the next season and finish second.
I know it's selfish of me but he was a horse so loved by his connections [and the general public] that I'd reached a stage of wanting him to retire safe and sound. Happy retirement RoR.
Loved him to bits and as mo says, great he's retired in one piece
Nice hoss.
Happy retirement
A very very decent consistent horse with no quirks whatsoever.
He will be missed by many racing fans indeed.
Not a big name or a true departure but our trainer retired De Waiting Game earlier this week - he has a hoof problem but should be grand in a few months and looking forward to seeing him in a new home :-)

Did we lose Moonlight Maggie at Leicester then?
