And remember he has a compromised immune system because of his spleen removal; breaks are still subject to infection.

He'll he back, if only to go out on a high. Either way what a career. If he was to retire, would Paul Townend get the job full time?

Would be far from 100% certain -it wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see David Mullins get the top job.

Willie is loyal to his jocks.

Worst case scenario for PT would be that they share the rides around.

Still not writing Rubys obituary mind
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

    D. Mullins is not in the same neighborhood as Townend.
Cant believe Willie would even contemplate such a move.

He will definitely contemplate it -don't know if the big owners would tolerate it.

But based on the rides Townend is getting now that Walsh is out I don't think there is any doubt as to who the number one is in his absence.
So unless you get between the sheets with Willie at night I'll just assume you are wet dreaming

Johnny Murtagh was moved sideways at Ballydoyle for Joseph -Donncha gets good mounts at the expense of Seamie & Colm. Was Paddy really the best available jockey for Douvan yesterday. In all probability Townend gets the job but maybe not on the same terms as Ruby.

I can agree with the latter part of the statement. I thought moving Joseph in for Johnny was ridiculous, at his best Joseph was not a blot on Johnny as far as ability is concerned.
I accept that AOB holds a lot of sway at Ballydoyle and the commercial interests there are in a completely different stratosphere to jumps racing. Replacing AOB would not be so easy in that environment against the occasional turd of a ride JOB put up in important races. P. Beggy could not cut it as a jockey but as a Ballydoyle exercise rider won the Derby . Donnacha will never replace Ryan Moore.

Jumps jockeyship is a completely different dynamic imo, a lot less money at stake and winning races is where the money is. An operation like Mullins is much more dependent on the jockey than Ballydoyle.
Townend is a mile the best after Ruby in that operation I rate him as one of the best 3 or 4 jump jocks.. Mullins is a very good young talent but he's no Jack Kennedy.

Walsh told Racinguk.com: "I saw my doctor Diarmuid Moloney and the diagnosis is that it's a very similar fracture on the inside of the original one, which has effectively opened up.
"It's good news in that the cast has come off and I am in an air-cushioned boot right now. I don't know exactly how long it will take to heal but it means I am hopeful of getting back for Punchestown - Aintree is not going to happen for me though."

Ruby's break is almost in the same place is NOT a coincidence. You can bet he's come back too soon only because it was the Festival and the bone wasn't 110% right

Now he wants to get back for Punchestown......I am not a bone surgeon but he's off his skull if he even tries.

Nearing the end of the season he should forget any comebacks until late summer at least

Ruby has got a huge injury list over the years, seriously think he should get out now while still in one piece.
