Got my first taste of Breeders Cup day at Gulfstream Park.
The Star Spangled Banner played on harmonica over the PA sent chills down my spine.
Lure, Fraise and AP Indy were the star performers and Lester lucky to be alive after Mr Brooks fell in the sprint.
That night there was a street fancy dress party off Miami South Beach for Aids awareness; it probably did more to spread the disease than spread the awareness !

    What a day that was!
I had joked with my racing buddies at Breeders Cup 92 that we should do Flemington in 93.
We went to Arc instead to see some outsider win on heavy going ! Shame on us !

Arkle puts up arguably the greatest ever performance by a chaser when winning The Gallagher Chase at Sandown by 20lengths carrying 12-7 ,breaking the course record by 17 seconds (it still stands I believe) . Mill House receiving 16 lbs was beaten 24 lengths.
Check it out on youtube if you have any doubts .
