To be honest I dislike both Ch4 and ITV coverage - not really on content from either but I just got fed up with watching a race finish then immediately 5 minutes of watching well off people in Dubai having a coffee or swimming with horses. ITV is slightly less nauseating as the ads are more varied but still cuts in immediately after. That's the problem with catching the bulk terrestrial TV audience, it would be much more effective at doing so if it were on BBC but they are adamant blowing 90% of their (and our !!!!) sports budget on 2 weeks of never ending tennis in July across 3 or four channels.

RUK all afternoon does me just fine, with the back button for ATR in between

I only saw the opening show programme but was not greatly impressed.
Why have three ex jockeys when one would do ?
Oli's Ruby interview Thursday was verging on painful.

I watched a bit of it again this afternoon.

One thing I've been meaning to mention is Hoiles's commentaries.

I always felt when we got him standing in occasionally he was right up there with Simon Holt so didn't mind too much that he got the gig on the new programme. His diction is really clear and he does try to identify each horse in the early stages. I also used to like his intonation.

However, quite a few times lately I've not been able to see any preambles to races so have just tuned in as the races are starting and I find that he isn't very accurate and the bigger the field the more I notice this.

I think it was Ian Bartlett who took over at the weekend there and he was much more accurate in identifying the horses and getting their positions correct. Then again, the only field of any real size was the Midlands National so I'd like to see him have a go at big fields more often.

At The Races to be rebranded Sky Sports Racing as Sky have become the majority shareholder, wonder how long before there's an extra charge either within the Sky Sports package or as a separate entity like RUK.

Would seem a bit rich to charge extra for run of the mill racing when they've lost the Champions League & the Ashes in recent times.

    Hopefully the dedicated website remains.

Home ashes have been retained but it's on BT Sport when we're in Australia this winter.

Jason Weaver's not doing badly is he! Missed the middle one, but that's two he's flagged up at good prices so far.

They bounce off each other well on ATR but Weaver seems much more accomplished as part of a team than his pal does.

Have to say the amount of useful info Weaver and Turner are giving punters is very good.

As one of Hayley Turnip's biggest critics, I feared the worst when started wittering on during the morning programme but she's actually been very goo through the afternoon. She could do with some coaching in grammatical English but the substance isn't too bad at all. Jason Weaver has been a revelation for me. Is he always like this?

Shame about the AW racing, though. I pretty much never get the chance to see it but if today's races at kempton are anything to go by, it's a complete waste of time from a punting perspective. Only one or two horses per race are getting to show their form for one reason or another.

Chr1st they're still at it after the race! Brilliant ride from Tudhope. Bravery must have been an absolute cert to win like that.

The director wants shooting for going to a camera angle at the last in the Aintree Hurdle that completely cut TNO (still challenging for the lead at the time) out of the picture. Save that for the post-race slow-mos.

I'm afraid this programme isn't improving with experience.
