    Racing Post

I don't buy the paper but I would occasionally use it online to check birth dates of 2yo's, progeny stats, etc, until they brought in the pricing structure, which is fair enough.

However, I just checked in now and I the quality of reporting looks pretty average to say the least.

I noticed the comments a few weeks ago and simply put it down to someone off sick, but it's actually that bad it's funny.

Hasnīt worn a tongue strap before. First time on the racecourse, may be one for the future
    Whole new experience today,
    Both unraced 2yo's.

If they really want to hide any relevant information under the payment section, why don't they simply ditch the drivel.

Or is it just a wind up ?

The site expects its spotlighters (at least two of whom are members here) to do their own summaries, plus a "Diomed verdict" which is available to non-members and seems to be strictly limited in terms of number of characters used. This is a bit daft, and tends to throw up some examples such as those quoted above.

That's what Peter Stringfellow told me, but it's not really true.

I signed up nearly two years ago and took the pay by cheque option. The cheque, as they say, is in the post.

    Does that option still exist?

Whisper it softly, but I'd suspect you're far from the only one.
Different situation for me, but exactly the same cost.

I honestly don't know. I've not been in a rush to update my membership.

This is actually the first time I ever mentioned it.

I subscribe. I wasn't happy about paying but it's a lot cheaper than buying the paper every time. I only get the basic package though so I can see breeding and read the race write-ups. I do use TS and RPR's as well but just as a guide.
I'm clever enough to ask the questions i'm too stupid to answer

I wouldn't mind if the pay section was ad free. It's not a site I use often, but researching the 2yo was useful.

    I can live without it.

I have allowed my subscription to lapse.

They can go and sh1te. I spend enough money buying the paper. Average of 3 times a week I reckon.

To have quick access to all of a horse's form, view the detail of each race it has run, follow up on how horses it has run against have performed since, check out the going preferences of its sire's progeny is a big advantage.

Even if I lived somewhere where I could buy it I would not be interested in going back to the paper version.

It doesn't offer enough more than can be gained from the Sporting Life, At The Races etc. to be worth paying for it's service, for me. Although if the snitch is reading please don't take that as I am getting it free...
